Texans Clinch At Least a Share of LSC Title with 45-20 Win over Javelinas

For the first time since 2009, the Tarleton State football team has clinched at least a share of the Lone Star Conference Championship with a 45-20 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville at Javelina Stadium Saturday night in Kingsville.
 
The Texans snapped a two-game losing streak with the win and improve to 6-2 overall on the year, while closing out the conference schedule at 5-1 to clinch at least a share of the title.
 
Tarleton has just two non-conference games left on its schedule and are currently tied with Eastern New Mexico, who downed West Texas A&M 39-38 in Canyon on Saturday, and Midwestern State as both teams have just one conference loss as well...Complete Release



Hounds Rally From 21-Point Deficit Against #15 Buffaloes to Claim Wagon Wheel
 
Christian Long scored his third touchdown of the second half with 51 seconds left and D'Majeric Tucker sprinted off the left side for the go-ahead two-point conversion, as the Eastern New Mexico University football team (5-3; LSC 3-1) rallied from a 21-point deficit to post a 39-38 victory over 15th-ranked West Texas A&M (7-2; LSC 3-2), Saturday on Happy State Bank Field in Kimbrough Memorial Stadium. With the win, Eastern snaps a seven-game skid in the Wagon Wheel Game and takes the game for the first time since the 2004 season.
 
The victory was also the Hounds first road win in the series since a 27-16 win on Nov. 9, 2002, snapping a four-game skid in Canyon. It also represented the Hounds' 12th Wagon Wheel win, with WT holding 14 victories (15 overall head to head wins). The Hounds have won four straight games for the first time since the 2007 season. Tucker's 99-yard kick return in the second quarter marked the first time a Greyhound had scored on a kick return since a Nov. 5, 2011, game at Texas A&M-Commerce. Only four kick returns in team history have been longer, most recently on Sept. 11, 2004, against Southwestern Oklahoma State...Complete Release


 
#17 Mustangs roll past Menlo, 64-7
 
No. 17 Midwestern State battered NAIA Menlo (Calif.) with eight rushing touchdowns to roll to its seventh straight win 64-7 Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.
 
The Mustangs (7-1) return to Lone Star Conference play Saturday against Eastern New Mexico in Blackwater Draw. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. (Central Time).
 
Six different runners found the end zone for MSU -- all but Harlon Hill candidate Keidrick Jackson, who finished the game with 68 yards on 11 carries.
 
Redshirt freshman Dante Taylor paced the attack with 128 yards on 10 carries with a pair of touchdowns, while senior Peter Smith also hit pay dirt twice finishing with a season-high 65 yards on 11 totes...Complete Release


 
Rams Take Down Texas A&M-Commerce 25-20
 
Angelo State's Blair Smith intercepted Texas A&M-Commerce quarterback Harrison Stewart with 58 seconds left in the game to preserve a 25-20 Ram victory in Commerce on Saturday.
 
The Rams (3-6, 1-4 LSC) were leading 19-14 late in the fourth quarter until Texas A&M-Commerce (6-3, 2-3 LSC) scored on a Vernon Johnson touchdown reception   with 4:09 to play in the fourth quarter.
 
After the two teams traded three and outs, the Rams took over with 4:23 to go on the Lions 45 yard line. Kyle Washington, who threw for 143 yard and rushed for 116 yards, hit Joey Knight for 18 yards on a fourth and six to keep the drive alive...Complete Release
