LSC Outdoor Track and Field: Javelinas sweep weekly honors

LSC OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track & Field athletes have recorded three NCAA Division II Automatic qualifying marks (1 men, 2 women) and 56 provisional efforts (32 men, 24 women).  See the LSC performance list here: http://www.tfrrs.org/lists/1270.html.
    The LSC has five men’s and three women’s teams in the top 25 in the national team computer rankings (March 25) conducted by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).  The men are represented by No. 3 Texas A&M-Kingsville, No. 4 Angelo State, No. 9 Texas A&M-Commerce, No. 17 Tarleton State, and No. 18 West Texas A&M. On the women’s side, ASU is No. 1, followed by No. 4 TAMUK, and No. 21 WT.


ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MEN’S TRACK
Tim Price, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, SR, Corpus Christi, Texas, Carroll HS
Price took first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.45. He also won first place in the men’s 200-meter dash with a time of 21.15, breaking his own record time of 21.28 from the 2012 IBC Bank Cactus Cup.

MEN’S FIELD
Jeron Robinson, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, SO, Houston, Texas, Travis HS
Robinson cleared a collegiate-leading 7-6 (2.29m) in the high jump at the Cactus Cup at Javelina Stadium on Saturday. His automatic qualifying mark was the best by a Division II high jumper since 2007 when Minnesota State’s Jim Dilling jumped 7-6.5 (2.30m) at the prestigious Drake Relays. The mark was a meet, stadium, school, and Lone Star Conference record. Robinson was named the Division II Field Athlete of the Week.

WOMEN’S TRACK
Kaina Martinez, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, JR, Seine Bight, Belize
Martinez soared into first place with an automatic qualifying time of 11.52 in the women’s 100-meter dash. She also placed first in the women’s 200-meter dash with a time of 24.30. In the women’s 4x100-meter relay, Kingsville (Sheppard, Treviño, Santia Deck, Kaina Martinez) came in first place with a time of 46.62.

WOMEN’S FIELD
Shykillia Sheppard, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, SR, Plainview, Texas, Reagan HS
In the women’s long jump, Sheppard came in first with a provisional qualifying mark of 18-10 (5.74m).  She was also part of first place 4x100 relay.
