Texas Woman’s teammates Bailey Vrazel and Kendra Sancet shared top billing as the Lone Star Conference Softball All-Academic team was announced at the LSC Softball Championship banquet.
Vrazel, who received the top honor for the third straight year, and Sancet were named Academic Player of the Year.
A senior from Danbury, Texas, Vrazel leads the LSC in stolen bases (42) this season and has 244 in her career, which is six steals away from breaking the NCAA Division II record. This season, she broke the league’s career hits record (310).
Sancet, a junior mathematics major from Magnolia, Texas, is the conference leader in home runs (19), and ranks second in slugging percentage (.923), and total bases (131). She’s also ranked in the top five in batting average (.437), on base percentage (.531), hits (62), and RBI (63).
Joining Vrazel and Sancet on the All-Academic Team was teammate Brandie Lander; West Texas A&M’s Alyssa Lemos and Allie Cranfill; Angelo State’s Morgan Spearman, and Carly Peters; Midwestern State’s Katelyn Vinson; and Cameron’s Makenzie Burk.
Vrazel and Lemos earned all-academic recognition for the third straight year, while Sancet was a repeat selection.
To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.30 grade point average and have reached sophomore status both athletically and academically. The Academic Player of Year award and All-Academic Team are selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league’s sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement.
