The top defensive players were recognized Thursday as winners of the Lone Star Conference Softball Golden Glove Awards were announced at the championship banquet.
The Golden Glove Awards were determined by a vote of LSC head coaches based on defensive performance alone for all nine positions for the third time.
LSC Champion West Texas A&M had the most Golden Glovers with five, while Angelo State had three, and Cameron and Eastern New Mexico each had one defensive standout.
The recipients included ASU catcher Megan Granado and WT pitcher Rita Hokianga. The infield included three Lady Buffs with Allie Cranfill at first base, Alyssa Lemos at shortstop, and Jessica Sipe at third base. At second base was ASU’s Micherie Koria, and ENMU’s Shelby Ripple was also at the hot corner.
The outfield contained ASU’s Morgan Spearman in center field, CU’s Tara Martini in left, and WT’s Renee Erwin in right.
Spearman, Lemos and Cranfill were all repeat selections.
