The top defensive players were recognized Thursday as winners of the Lone Star Conference Softball Golden Glove Awards were announced at the championship banquet.
For the fourth time, the Golden Glove Awards were determined by a vote of LSC head coaches based on defensive performance alone for all nine positions.
LSC Champion West Texas A&M had the most Golden Glovers with three, while Angelo State and Cameron had two apiece, and Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce each had one defensive standout.
The recipients included CU catcher Chelsea DeLong and WT pitcher Rita Hokianga. The infield consisted of TSU’s Erika Menchaca at first base, A&M-C’s Tyler Oppenheim at second, ASU’s Ciara Sheppard at shortstop, and WT’s Kaisha Dacosin at third base.
The outfield was anchored by ASU’s Micherie Koria in center field, along with CU’s Tara Martini in left, and WT’s Renee Erwin in right.
Hokianga, Koria, Erwin, and Martini were all repeat selections.
