WT’s Quaid headlines men’s basketball academic honors

West Texas A&M’s Ryan Quaid was named Academic Player of the Year to headline the Lone Star Conference All-Academic Men’s Basketball Team, that was announced Wednesday by league officials at the LSC Awards Banquet in Frisco, Texas.
Joining Quaid on the squad was teammate Rylan Gerber, UT Permian Basin’s Josh Morris and Sammy Allen, and Western New Mexico’s Alex Gonzalez-Alvarez.
Quaid was recognized for the second straight year.
To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must have reached sophomore status and carry at least a 3.30 grade point average. The All-Academic Team is selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league’s sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement.
