Texas A&M-Kingsville is off to a perfect start at 10-0.  LSC contests start this week in addition to non-conference games.

LSC teams are playing a single round-robin schedule with a three-game series against each league opponent.  The overall LSC Champion will be the team(s) with the best winning percentage in regular-season conference games, while the winner of the postseason championship will be recognized as LSC Tournament Champion and receive the league’s automatic qualification into NCAA postseason.  The single-elimination championship featuring the top six teams will be played May 3-4, at the No. 1 seed.

LSC softball teams are 64-36 overall this season.  In the NCAA South Central Region, the group is currently 11-12 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 20-5 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

HITTER

Mykayla Stroud, Angelo State University, SO, Kinesiology, Infielder, Aledo, Texas, Aledo HS

Stroud was absolutely dominant in her performance during the McCorkle Challenge as ASU went 6-0 against Adams State and Texas A&M International. In six games, Stroud hit at a .706 average (12-for-17) and drove in 13 runs. The sophomore also crushed three home runs and stole two bases.  Stroud had hits in each of the six ASU wins and recorded multiple hits in four contests.  In Sunday’s game versus TAMIU, she was a perfect 3-for-3 with two homers, four runs scored and five RBI. Her excellent offensive output was the result of her plate discipline, which resulted in her walking twice and striking out only once in 17 at bats.

PITCHER

Emily Otto, Texas A&M University-Commerce, SO, Mathematics, Pitcher, Richmond, Texas, Lamar Consolidated HS

Otto was spectacular once again in her lone start last week. She went the full seven innings against St. Mary's and held the Rattlers to just two hits and a paltry .095 batting average in the shutout. She struck out four batters in her third complete game of the season.
