Softball: Golden Glove Awards revealed

The top defensive stars were recognized Thursday as recipients of the Lone Star Conference Softball Golden Glove Awards were announced at the championship banquet.

For the eighth time, the Golden Glove Awards were determined by a vote of LSC head coaches based on defensive performance alone for all nine positions.

Texas A&M-Commerce had the most defensive standouts with four, while West Texas A&M had three, and Angelo State had two.  Cameron, Tarleton and LSC Champion Texas A&M-Kingsville each had one honoree.

The recipients included ASU catcher Taegan Kirk, and co-pitchers in A&M-C’s Emily Otto and TSU’s Jordan Withrow.  The infield consisted of WT’s Kylee Moore and A&M-C’s Jodie Hill at first base and second, respectively, along with CU’s Brenna Busby at shortstop, and the Lions Madison Schaefer at third base.

ASU’s Courtney Barnhill,   A&M-C’s Kayla Kilcrease, TAMUK’s Loren Kelly, and WT’s Ruby Salzman and Brittany Cruz represented the outfield.

Kirk is a three-time honoree, while Otto was a repeat selection.
