Baseball: All-Conference awards revealed

Forty-five baseball stars were recognized Wednesday as the Lone Star Conference annual baseball postseason awards were announced prior to this week’s championship.

      The honorees included eight first-team selections for LSC Champion Angelo State who had 12 recognized.

      The Rams took home a trio of individual awards as Josh Elvir was tabbed Player of the Year, Jordan Williams picked up Freshman of the Year honors, and Kevin Brooks, John Anderson, Sam Mote, Rex Scofield, Kenton Schroter, Dillan Weigang claimed Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

      Texas A&M-Kingsville had three first-teamers among its 10 recipients, while West Texas A&M had five on the top team and eight overall.

      The Buffs Joe Corbett earned Pitcher of the Year acclaim.

      Cameron was represented by seven honorees, while Eastern New Mexico and UT Permian Basin had three each, and Tarleton State two.

      The all-conference program recognized at least one player from each of the seven baseball teams in the LSC.  The awards are voted upon by the league coaches.
