MEN’S

Marion did his job in the Aggies' 1-1 week against No. 20 Drury and Washburn to open the spring last weekend. The sophomore won both of his singles matches in three sets, defeating his Panther opponent 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 and then his opponent from WU 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 the next night. Playing at No. 1 doubles with partner Julen Gutierrez, Marion suffered a hard-fought 7-6 loss to Drury's No. 1 pairing before defeating WU’s top duo 6-4 the next day.

WOMEN’S
Alicia Barbaroux, Tarleton, SR, International Business, Marseille, France, Lycee Paul Melizan HS
Barbaroux claimed a thrilling victory in a nationally-ranked, top-flight match against No. 9 Central Oklahoma last weekend. Barbaroux, currently ranked No. 35 in the nation, squared off with No. 26-ranked Adel-Byanu Abidullina and rallied from a 7-5 loss in the opening set to win the next two 6-1 and 10-7 in a super tiebreak. For the weekend, Barbaroux went 1-1 in singles and 1-1 in doubles. Her lone doubles win came against Northeastern State to clinch the crucial doubles point in what would ultimately be a 4-3 victory against the Riverhawks.

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
    Brian Nguyen, DBU, posted a flawless record over the weekend, winning each of his singles and doubles matches against the Patriots' three opponents. In line one singles action, Nguyen went 3-0 and won 6 out of 7 sets.  In line two doubles, Nguyen partnered with Aaron Capone to post a perfect 3-0 mark. Brian lead DBU to their first three wins of the 2020 campaign and improves to 4-1 in singles play at the line one spot.

    Melany Opolz, Cameron, went 3-1 combined last week as they Aggie women face off against a pair of tough opponents in Drury and No. 20 Washburn to open the season. The junior recorded a 2-0 record for Cameron at the No. 3 singles spot, defeating her Panther counterpart 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, and then the next day winning her singles match against WU 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. Opolz and her doubles partner Alex Lopez secured a 6-2 win at the No. 2 doubles spot against the 20th ranked Ichabods, after falling to their opponent from Drury 6-3 the night prior.
 
    Taylor Leslie, DBU, was perfect over the weekend, winning each of her four matches on Saturday versus Hardin-Simmons and McMurry. In line two singles action, Leslie won both matches in straight sets and then teamed up with Kate Daugherty in line one doubles to go 2-0. Her efforts were a galvanizing factor in the weekend sweep of Hardin-Simmons and McMurry, as the Lady Patriots defeated both teams 7-0 respectively.
