LSC Indoor Track and Field awards released

A total of 115 athletes were recognized on the All-Lone Star Conference teams for their efforts at the 2020 LSC Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships.  The awards were announced Wednesday by league officials.
West Texas A&M won its seventh straight women’s title and Angelo State claimed the men’s crown at the league’s indoor meet February 21-22.
The list of all-conference performers includes the first team, which consists of event winners, all members of the winning relay teams, and athletes scoring 14 or more points at the LSC Championships.  The second team includes athletes on the second-place relay teams and those scoring 8-13.9 points, while the third team recognizes members of third-place relay teams and athletes scoring 6-7.9 points.  Overall, 58 men and 57 women were honored.
WT had 13 women’s honorees including four first-teamers, while Angelo State had 10 recipients, and Tarleton nine.
On the men’s side, ASU and WT had 15 earn All-LSC honors, while Texas A&M-Commerce had 11.  The Buffs boasted seven on the first team, and the Rams had six.
In addition to the announcement of All-LSC performers, the league recognized four student-athletes and two coaches with individual awards.
On the men’s side, WT’s Quinton Sansing earned Outstanding Male Track Athlete acclaim, while ASU’s Trpimir Siroki was named Outstanding Male Field Athlete for the second straight year.  The Rams Tom Dibbern earned Men’s Track Coach of the Year honors.
ASU’s Faith Roberson picked up Outstanding Female Track Athlete honors, while WT’s Fatim Affessi captured her second consecutive Outstanding Female Field Athlete award.  The Lady Buffs Stewart was named Women’s Track Coach of the Year for the third straight year.
The special awards were voted upon by the league coaches.
The qualifiers for the NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships will be announced on March 3 on NCAA.com.  The NCAA championships are March 13-14 in Birmingham, Alabama at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
