LCU’s Chitsey tops women’s basketball academic awards

FRISCO, Texas – Lubbock Christian’s Maddi Chitsey earned Academic Player of the Year honors to top the Lone Star Conference women’s basketball academic honors announced by league officials at the LSC Awards Banquet in Frisco, Texas on Wednesday.
      On the All-Academic Team with Chitsey was teammate Allie Schulte, Cameron’s Maighan Hedge, Midwestern State’s Elizabeth Cathcart and West Texas A&M’s Mary Rose Foster.     
      Cathcart earned her second straight all-academic honor with her inclusion on the team this season.
      To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must have reached sophomore status and carry at least a 3.30 grade point average. The All-Academic Team is selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league’s sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement.
