LSC Indoor Track and Field Weekly Release - Week 4

Lone Star Conference Indoor Track and Field athletes have recorded seven NCAA Division II Automatic qualifying marks (4 men, 3 women) and 42 provisional efforts (31 men, 11 women).  See the LSC performance list here:

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MEN’S TRACK
Distance Medley Relay (Arnaud Taki, Malick Diop, Butare Rugenerwa, Ezekiel Kipchirchir), West Texas A&M
The quartet of Arnaud Taki, Malick Diop, Butare Rugenerwa and Ezekiel Kipchirchir finished second in the distance medley relay at the ASU Grizzly Open on the Saturday in 10:19.37. With altitude and track conversions, the time converts to 9:53.16 and is the fourth-fastest time in the nation this year.
 
MEN’S FIELD
Ray Dixon, West Texas A&M, JR, Sport and Exercise Science, Llano, Texas, Llano HS
Dixon picked up another victory in the weight throw this past weekend at the ASU Grizzly Open in Alamosa, Colo. The junior, who owns the Top 7 marks in the event in program history, won the event with his toss of 55-8.25 (16.97m). He also finished third in the shot put with a personal best mark of 52-7.5 (16.04m).
 
WOMEN’S TRACK
Distance Medley Relay (Eleonora Curtabbi, Luisa Neumann, Nyia Sena, Florance Uwajeneza), West Texas A&M
The Lady Buffs are now ranked second in the nation in the distance medley relay after running 12:16.66 at the ASU Grizzly Open. Eleonora Curtabbi, Luisa Neumann, Nyia Sena and Florance Uwajeneza finished second behind CSU-Pueblo with the third-fastest time in program history which converts to 11:47.49.
 
WOMEN’S FIELD
Taylor Nelloms, West Texas A&M, SO, Sport and Exercise Science, Humble, Texas, Atascocita HS
Nelloms finished second in the high jump at the ASU Grizzly Open on Saturday afternoon in Alamosa, Colo. She was the top finisher for the Lady Buffs in the event with a clearance of 5-1.75 (1.57m), two inches away from her seasonal best.
