ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MEN’S TRACK
Ezekiel Kipchirchir, West Texas A&M, JR, Health Sciences, Eldoret, Kenya, Sibanga Secondary
Kipchirchir broke the facility record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in Friday’s WT Spring Break Classic. He led from start-to-finish in 9:03.85 to move to the top of the descending order list. That is also the second-fastest time in program history and fastest time in the LSC since 2019.
MEN’S FIELD
Decio Andrade, Angelo State, SO, Economics, Camacha, Portugal, Escola Secondaria De Francisco Franco
Andrade continues to dominate on the field for Angelo State as he threw the hammer for a distance of 226-9, or 69.11m, to hit an automatic qualifying mark for the national meet. Andrade currently leads the conference and the nation in the hammer throw from his performance in the Wes Kittley Invitational meet.
WOMEN’S TRACK
DeOndra Green, West Texas A&M, FR, Interdisciplinary Studies, Montreal, Quebec, Riverdale
Green had a strong opening weekend for the Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M as she picked up a provisional mark in the 100-meter dash. The freshman ran 11.77, which is the second-fastest time in the nation. She also ran a leg on the 4x100-meter relay that ran 45.57 and ranks first in the nation.
WOMEN’S FIELD
Zada Swoopes, West Texas A&M, SR, Sports and exercise science, Whitewright, Texas, Whitewright
Swoopes was named the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week after breaking the school, Lone Star Conference and facility record in the shot put at the WT Spring Break Classic. She wasted no time putting her name at the top of the descending order list with a throw of 55-0 (16.76m) to break her own school and LSC record. She also picked up a win in the discus with the second-best mark in the nation this season, 175-9 (53.56m).

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Nicholas Ellisor, Angelo State, had a phenomenal weekend at the Wes Kittley Invitational meet competing for Angelo State in the 400m dash and the 4x400m relay team for the Rams. Ellisor placed in third in the 400m, finishing with a time of 47.93, and was a part of the 4x400m relay team that placed second in the meet with a time of 3:12.85. Ellisor currently leads the conference in the 400m dash with a time of 47.93 and the Angelo State 4x400m relay team currently leads the conference as well with a time of 3:12.85.
James Majenge, Cameron, recorded his second straight win in as many meets last week at the Abilene Christian hosted Wes Kittley Invitational. The senior followed up a first place finish in the 5000-meter event last week with a win in the 1500-meter race with a time of 3:57.88. Majenge bested the second place finisher from Texas Tech, Timothy Gregg, by just over three seconds and was just eight seconds away from a NCAA DII provisional mark.
Cade Halliburton, West Texas A&M, broke the program record in the hammer throw in his first competition for the Buffs since May 13, 2018. The senior finished second with a toss of 190-5 (58.03m) to break Zach Weatherly’s record set back in 2015. He also finished third in the discus with a mark of 153-5 (46.77m).
Alana Holloway, Angelo State, FR had an outstanding week on the field for the Angelo State Rambelles as she placed third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:04.17 for ASU in the Wes Kittley Invitational meet. Holloway currently leads the conference in the 400m hurdles with her performance.
Analynne Klotz, won the 3K Steeplechase at the West Texas A&M Spring Break Classic with a time of 11:27.29. The victory marked Klotz's first career win in the event as she won the event by 12 seconds over the next closest finisher.
Talena Murray, Angelo State, was a dominant force on the field for the Angelo State Rambelles as she threw the javelin for a distance of 151-11 (46.30m) to place first for ASU in the Wes Kittley Invitational meet. With that performance, Murray moves into the top spot in the conference in the javelin throw.
Jessica Campbell, Eastern New Mexico, at the West Texas A&M Spring Break Classic, took first place in the high jump (5-5, 1.65m), second in the javelin (119-1, 36.31m), and ninth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.19). Her high jump and 100m hurdles performances set new program records for the Greyhounds.
