No. 9 Angelo State picked up a non-conference series sweep over St. Mary’s to close the regular season. Lubbock Christian, St. Edward’s and Texas A&M-Kingsville also picked up conference series victories as all three prepare for the LSC championship beginning this week.

LSC BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The LSC Baseball Championship will be a two-week tournament featuring eight teams with the opening round on campus. The winners of each opening round series will advance to a double-elimination tournament played the following weekend. The winner of the postseason tournament will be recognized as the LSC Tournament Champion and receive the conference’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA postseason.

Nolan Machibroda was a force to be reckoned with at the plate in Lubbock Christian's two wins over Oklahoma Christian. After missing the opening game of the series he was especially great, going 4-for-5 with two home runs - including a grand slam - for a total of seven runs batted in. He hit .625 for the series and slugged 1.500 over the two games he played.

Trent Baker led the Rams to a series-opening win over St. Mary's, tossing seven innings while allowing only one run. He earned his LSC-leading 11th win of the season and is now only six strikeouts from tying the LSC career strikeout record. Baker leads the league in strikeouts this season (92) and ranks second in earned run average at 1.94.

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Aaron Walters, Angelo State, led the Rams at the plate in a series sweep of StMU, hitting .636 with four RBIs and three runs scored. He is second in the conference in batting average at .426 and leads the LSC in On-base percentage at .540 this season.
Jake Hahn, St. Edward’s, had seven hits and five walks with no strikeouts during the weekend against UT Permian Basin for an .818 slugging percentage with two doubles and four RBIs. The Hilltoppers went 2-1 against the Falcons to close the season.
Beau Williams, Cameron, had a great end to the 2021 season, hitting over .420 in the Aggies final series against Texas A&M-Kingsville. The sophomore opened the weekend up with a three-hit performance in a slugfest loss to the Javelinas. Williams scored twice and drove in five runs, four coming on a grand slam during CU’s nine-run seventh. The next day, Cameron’s second baseman went 2-4 with another home run and two more RBI in the 14-8 win. Williams wrapped up the weekend with another hit and RBI in the finale, giving him eight for the three-game series. Over the last two series, the business major hit over .400 with three homers, eight runs scored, and 13 RBI.
Tanner White, Oklahoma Christian, registered six hits that all went for extra bases during the week for OC. He had two RBI doubles and a two-run homer for OC in an 11-7 win over Lubbock Christian in the series opener and hit another double and a two-run homer in the second game of the series, a 23-13 loss.
Derek Mueller, St. Mary’s, extended his hitting streak to 16 games and has reached base safely in 32 straight contests after recording two multi-hit games against ninth-ranked Angelo State. He totaled almost 1/3 of the Rattlers hits on the weekend (7-of-22) and scored four of the team's 11 runs. Mueller also stole two bases, bringing his career total to 51 swipes.
