SOFTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Brooklin Bain, Oklahoma Christian, FR, Biology, 3B-CF, Comanche, Okla., Comanche HS
Bain continually came up with the big hit as No. 6 OC closed the regular season with a 6-1, 1-0 sweep of then-No. 3 Texas-Tyler. Her fifth-inning RBI triple drove in the go-ahead run in the first game and she added a run-scoring single in the sixth to seal the win. Bain then drove in the only run of the second game, bringing home Daelyn Denny from third base in the second inning. She successfully handled eight defensive changes, moving between third base and center field.
PITCHER
Bailey Turner, Oklahoma Christian, SR, MBA, P, Fort Worth, Texas, C.F. Brewer HS
Turner entered in relief in both games of a 6-1, 1-0 sweep of then-No. 3 Texas-Tyler to close the regular season, allowing only two hits in 4 2/3 innings of work and recording a save in each contest. She went into the circle with OC clinging to a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning of the first game and held the Patriots hitless during her 1 2/3-inning stint. Turner then pitched the final three innings of the second game, not allowing a baserunner past second base. The saves were the first of the season for Turner.
