Baseball All-Defensive Team awards released

The Lone Star Conference Baseball All-Defensive Team was released Wednesday with 11 of the league’s top defensive players recognized.

The All-Defensive Team Awards were selected by a vote of the LSC’s head coaches based on defensive performance alone for all nine positions.

Angelo State and St. Mary’s led the way with three defensive honorees each. Lubbock Christian, UAFS, UT Permian Basin, UT Tyler and West Texas A&M each had one all-defensive selection.

Recipients included catcher Dylan Hurt from UAFS, ASU pitcher Benjamin Elder, first basemen Nolan Machibroda from LCU and Jordan Gochenour from UT Tyler. ASU second baseman Parker Bramlett became a two-time all-defensive award winner and was joined by fellow Ram Jordan Williams at third base. StMU’s Jake Mares and Mitchell Caskey claimed spots at shortstop and third base, respectively, to round out the infield. UTPB’s Pemron Burrows, StMU’s Derek Mueller and WT’s Cade Engle earned the three outfield awards.
