No. 4 West Texas A&M clinched their third LSC championship picking up a series win on the road last week to complete the regular season at 28-4 in league play. Eleventh-ranked Angelo State and Texas A&M-Kingsville finished the week undefeated, and UT Tyler and Cameron earned conference-series wins.

LSC BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The LSC Baseball Championship will be a two-week tournament featuring eight teams with the opening round on campus. The winners of each opening round series will advance to a double-elimination tournament played the following weekend. The winner of the postseason tournament will be recognized as the LSC Tournament Champion and receive the conference’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA postseason.

Cade Engle continued to pace the high-powered West Texas A&M offense from the leadoff spot as the senior led the No. 4 Buffs to the program's third Lone Star Conference Championship. The Pampa, Texas product hit .538 during a three-game series at St. Edward’s with two doubles and two homers to drive in six RBI for a slugging percentage of 1.154 to go along with two walks and just one strikeout in his 13 at-bats for an on-base clip of .600. Engle also went 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts and registered a perfect fielding percentage in center field with six putouts.

Cade Acrey had the best outing of his career in the series finale against UT Tyler, setting new career-highs in both innings pitched (7.0) and strikeouts (8) against the Patriots. The Lubbock native came in to start the third inning with LCU already trailing 6-0. He gave up a pair of unearned runs, but started putting up zeroes in the fourth and continued to do so for the remainder of the game, allowing his offense to come all the way back and win the game 12-8. He allowed just six hits in the outing overall holding UTT to a .214 batting average.

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Josh Elvir, Angelo State, had one of his most productive weeks at the plate this season, tallying 12 RBIs as the Rams went 4-0. Elvir hit three home runs in the series against UTPB including twice in one inning to tie the Lone Star Conference career home run record with 42. He finished the week with a 1.333 slugging percentage and scored seven runs in the process while batting .533.
George Mendazona, Lubbock Christian, was a fixture on the bases in three games against UT Tyler, reaching at a .714 clip for the weekend. He had six hits, half of which went for doubles, and walked four times. Two of the walks and two of the doubles came in the series finale when LCU erased an 8-0 deficit and scored 12 unanswered runs to come back and win. He scored twice in the three games and drove in a run as well.
Jordan Harrison-Dudley, Cameron, showed off his power this weekend as the Aggies took the three-game series win over Texas A&M International. The junior extended his hitting streak to 10 games and had a pair of multi-hit performances over the weekend. Harrison-Dudley started the weekend with a 3-5 game where he had a triple and a homer in the CU win. After a one-hit game in the lone loss, the Aggie outfielder powered two more hits with two runs scored, two RBI, and another homer, his sixth of the season. Harrison-Dudley has been red-hot since the start of April, batting .417 with five home runs, 13 runs scored, and 15 RBI.
Seth Spinn, Texas A&M-Kingsville, was instrumental in leading the Javelinas to a sweep of Eastern New Mexico over the weekend at home. He started his weekend with two hits, one RBI and one run scored in the walk-off 5-4 win in the series opener in extra innings. His infield single to second with one out in the 10th secured the win for the Hogs in game one. He followed that up with two hits, two walks, one RBI and four runs in a 13-5 drubbing of the Hounds in game two, and closed his weekend with one hit, one RBI and two walks in the series finale for the sweep at 5-2 on Senior Day. On the year, Spinn is hitting a team-best .356 with 37 hits, six doubles, four triples and three home runs coupled with 22 RBI and 25 runs scored.
Kyler Bumstead, UT Tyler, reached base 10 times and scored six runs as UT Tyler finished up their 2021 campaign on the road in Lubbock, Texas this week. Bumstead hit .444 for the series, going 4-for-9 from the plate, and scored six times between the three games. He also drew six walks and was an on-base machine for the Patriots, finishing the weekend with an on-base percentage of .706. Bumstead finished the 2021 season with an eight-game hitting streak and completed his season campaign with a team-high batting average of .386 for the year.
Morgan Allen, St. Edward’s, was a bright spot in the Hilltopper offense, recording two home runs and a double in 15 at-bats hitting .400 for the week in four games against top-15 ranked opponents that included a win over No. 4 West Texas A&M.
Trent Baker, Angelo State, earned his third straight shutout against UTPB, holding the Falcons to only four hits while striking out eight batters. He has not given up a run in the last 22 innings and is 13 strikeouts away from tying the LSC career strikeout record. Baker leads the Rams with 86 strikeouts on the season which is second in the league while he leads the LSC in wins with 10.
A.G. Ayala, St. Edward’s, was instrumental in securing the win over No. 4 West Texas A&M Saturday. He entered as the closer and held WT to just one hit and secured the final out on a pickoff at first base. In four innings he allowed just one hit with two walks and no runs.
Todd Danzeisen, West Texas A&M, tossed the first complete game of the season for #4 West Texas A&M on Monday afternoon to clinch the program's third Lone Star Conference Championship with a 14-1 run-rule victory over St. Edward's on the road in Austin, Texas. The Las Vegas, Nevada product picked up the win (7-0) on the mound for the Buffs as the senior lefty allowed just one earned run on eight hits with no walks and three strikeouts in the complete-game victory.
Nolan Cox, UT Tyler, struck out nine batters in just five innings of work in his final start of 2021 for UT Tyler. He conceded just a single run and was credited with the no-decision despite his dominant five innings of work for UT Tyler. He fanned those nine batters while scattering five hits, and allowed just a single extra-base hit for the Patriots, who finished the 2021 season with a record of 25-15.
