The 2022 LSC Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held at the Texas Tech Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas on February 25-26.
LSC INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MEN’S TRACK
Johnathon Harper, Texas A&M-Kingsville, SR, Mechanical Engineering/MBA, Lorena, Texas, Lorena HS
The Lorena, Texas native found success in the 60m hurdles, where he placed fourth at the Ted Nelson Invitational with a time of 8.06. His mark was well below the provisional standard in the event and ranks him eighth on the national leaderboard. Additionally, Harper's fourth place came amongst a group in which he was the only non-Division I athlete in the group beating out a slew of opponents from the Southland Conference.
MEN’S FIELD
D.J. Delancy, Texas A&M-Kingsville, SR, Biomedical Sciences, Bethel Town, Jamacia, Munro College
Delancy managed a second-place finish in the shot put at the Ted Nelson Invitational. The senior heaved the implement 51-10 (15.80m) to claim silver as the top NCAA Division II athlete in the event.
WOMEN’S TRACK
Summer Grubbs, UT Tyler, JR, Business Administration, Gladewater, Texas, Union Grove HS
Grubbs continued her fine form on the young season, this time etching her name into the school record book not once, but twice at the Corky Classic. In the 200 meters, Grubbs finished second overall in the event after running a 24.48. That time placed her just .16 seconds behind first, garnered an NCAA Division II provisional mark, and also is the second fastest time in Division II this season. Grubbs started the week by setting a new school record in the long jump. She jumped 18-5.75 (5.63m) to place eighth in the event. Her distance beat all but two non-Division I competitors and all but one LSC competitor.
WOMEN’S FIELD
Taylor Nelloms, West Texas A&M, SO, Sports & Exercise Science, Humble, Texas, Atascocita HS
The reigning triple jump indoor national champion, Nelloms made her season debut at the Corky Classic in Lubbock, Texas where she finished fourth in the triple jump. The sophomore from Humble, Texas recorded a 42-0.75 (12.82m) jump to lead off the season and was the highest Division II finisher out of 20 competitors. She also finished 11th in the Section A long jump at 18-1.5 (5.52m).

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Angel Contreras, UT Tyler, took to the track this weekend at the Texas Tech Corky Classic and took home a school record in his name. Contreras competed in the mile run and finished with a time of 4:16.70 which beats the previous record by 1.54 seconds. Contreras beat all but one competitor in the field, including all LSC competition. His mile run finished just 1.87 seconds behind first place.
Emmett Seals Jr., Angelo State, competing at Texas Tech's Corky Classic, finished with the top time in section B of the 200-meter race, running a time of 21.85. He was also a member of the Rams' 4x400-meter relay team that finished 10th overall, leading all Division II opponents, coming in with a time of 3:21.19. in the 60-meter dash, Seals finished 13th overall in the preliminaries, running a time of 6.93.
Dylan Burrows, Oklahoma Christian, running in the 600 yards for the first time for Oklahoma Christian, picked up his second career collegiate win in the Washburn Rust Buster in Topeka, Kan. His time of 1:12.53 was tops in the 25-man field as he edged Romain Henry of Washburn by .23 of a second.
Gerard Bryant, West Texas A&M, broke the school record in the men's heptathlon at the Colorado Running Company Pre-Holiday Invite & Multi after finishing third with a total 4,906 points. On the first day of the meet, he picked up wins in the High Jump (1.95m) and the 60m Dash (7.04) before he won the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.42 followed by a sixth-place finish in the pole vault (3.60m) and a time of 3:10.11 in the 1,000 run to finish fifth.
Jonathan Olsson, Oklahoma Christian, won one event and posted a personal-best mark in another to lead Oklahoma Christian in the Washburn Rust Buster in Topeka, Kan. He took top honors in a field of 24 in the shot put with a mark of 48-2.5 (14.69m), finishing 11 inches ahead of the runner-up. In the weight throw, Olsson recorded his best-ever collegiate mark of 49-0.75 (14.95 meters) on the last of his six attempts. That moved him up to a third-place finish among 21 throwers.
DeOndra Green, West Texas A&M, was the top finisher for the Lady Buffs in the 60-meter dash at the Corky Classic in Lubbock where she finished 13th overall. The Montreal, Quebec product ran a personal-best 7.61 in her season debut to lead the herd and was the highest Division II placer.
Cynai Christopher, Texas A&M-Kingsville, excelled in her collegiate debut, placing second with a 200m time of 25.37. She was bested only by Dreunna Washington of McNeese State, who clocked in at 24.65.
Maricia Spence, Angelo State, competing at Texas Tech's Corky Classic, helped the Belles' 4x400-meter relay team to a 12th-place finish with a time of 3:58.66 which was the fastest Division II finish in the event. ASU's 4x400-meter relay team now leads the LSC with the fastest time of the year. Spence also advanced in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles, hitting a time of 8.85. She also earned her second provisional mark of the season, hitting a distance of 5.70 meters in the long jump which is the second farthest mark in the LSC.
Bryah Davis, Oklahoma Christian, with a time of 25.70 seconds, finished second among 35 women in the 200 meters in the Washburn Rust Buster in Topeka, Kan. She also qualified for the eight-woman final in the 60 meters and finished fifth in 7.75 seconds.
Abeni Kratzmeyer, UT Tyler, has burst onto the pole vault scene in her first year of competition in the LSC. The young freshman continues to put up strong marks. On Saturday at the Texas Tech Corky Classic, Kratzmeyer cleared a height of 12-8.75 (3.88m) to place in fourth out of all competition. She was the youngest competitor in the top five, and her mark will go down as her second provisional mark of the season in Division II. The height of 12-8.75 (3.88m) is the eight highest mark in Division II this year.
Leah Oguntope, Oklahoma Christian, posted the top individual event performance of her Oklahoma Christian career, a second-place showing in the weight throw in the Washburn Rust Buster in Topeka, Kan. She moved up to second with a career-best mark of 48-1.75 (14.67m) on her final throw.
