OFFENSIVE
Rowan Mackenzie, Lubbock Christian, JR, Social Work, Guard, Perth, Australia, Aquinas College
Mackenzie started the season leading the Chaps to a 66-59 win over Regis. Mackenzie went 2-for-4 from deep with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists, while also blocking a shot with five seconds left that clinched the game for LCU. Despite falling to Colorado Mines 69-66, Mackenzie set a new career-high in points with 35 and in three pointers made, going 7-for-10 beyond the arc. His four steals in the game are also a new career high.
DEFENSIVE
Creighton Avery, Texas A&M-Kingsville, SR, Kinesiology, Guard, Corpus Christi, Texas, West Oso HS
Avery performed well in the opening weekend across a pair of wins over South Dakota Mines and Chadron State. The senior guard scored 10 points with six rebounds against the Hardrockers, ahead of 16-points and five boards in an overtime thriller with the Eagles. Additionally, Avery swiped three steals and dished out five assists in the victories as the Javelina defense held teams to 59 point per game.
