LSC Women's Basketball Weekly Release - Week 1

LSC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

West Texas A&M started the season undefeated at 2-0 with most of the Lone Star Conference teams starting play this week.

      LSC women’s basketball teams are 2-2 overall and 0-0 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the other conference in the South Central Region.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSIVE

Karley Motschenbacher, West Texas A&M, SO, Business, Guard, Moorhead, Minnesota, Park Christian HS

Motschenbacher paced the West Texas A&M offense this past weekend as the No. 6 Lady Buffs opened the 2022-23 campaign at the D2 CCA Tipoff Classic at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri. WT picked up wins over No. 3 Fort Hays State and Nebraska-Kearney to start the season 2-0.  The Moorhead, Minnesota native went 14-of-25 (56%) from the floor including 2-of-3 (66.7%) from deep and 8-of-9 (88.9%) from the free throw line to average 19.0 points per game to go along with 17 rebounds (two offensive, 15 defensive), three assists, one block and five steals.  The sophomore guard took over late in Sunday's game against the Lopers as she finished with a double-double (21 points, 10 rebounds) with 17 of those points coming in the second half as the Lady Buffs overcame a 14-point first half deficit in a 59-53 victory.

Motschenbacher paced the West Texas A&M defense this past weekend as the No. 6 Lady Buffs opened the 2022-23 campaign at the D2 CCA Tipoff Classic at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri. WT picked up wins over No. 3 Fort Hays State and Nebraska-Kearney to start the season 2-0.  The Moorhead, Minnesota native grabbed 17 rebounds (two offensive, 15 defensive) with one block and five steals. For the weekend, the Lady Buffs allowed a shooting percentage of 27.6% and a scoring average of 55.5 points to a pair of NCAA Regional Semifinal teams from a year ago.  The sophomore guard took over late in Sunday's game against the Lopers as she finished with a double-double (21 points, 10 rebounds) with 17 of those points coming in the second half as the Lady Buffs overcame a 14-point first half deficit in a 59-53 victory.
