Cameron and UT Permian Basin were 2-0 in Lone Star Conference contests in the last week.
LSC games continue this week with each team playing a double round-robin schedule within their eight-team division. Additionally, teams will play eight crossover competitions against teams from the opposite division for a total of 22 conference games.
The LSC Women’s Basketball Championship will feature an eight-team field in 2023 with seeding based on the 22 conference games. The divisional winners will receive the top two seeds in the tournament. The championships are set to take place March 2-3-4-5, 2023, at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.
LSC women’s basketball teams are 77-63 overall and 22-16 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the other league in the South Central Region.

OFFENSIVE
Brianna Pena, Texas A&M-Kingsville, SR, Industrial Agricultural Engineering, Guard, Weslaco, Texas, Weslaco HS
Pena was exceptional offensively over the weekend, first dropping 15 points and two assists in an upset victory over No. 2 West Texas A&M before logging a game-high 22 points against Lubbock Christian. She averaged 18.5 points and shot 65.4% from the field while hauling in five rebounds and six steal across the contests.
DEFENSIVE
Emily Swiercz, Texas A&M International, JR, Education, Guard, Carleton, Mich., Macomb CC/Airport Community HS
Swiercz was an all-around threat for TAMIU in its 1-1 weekend. Starting in Thursday's 60-47 win over Lubbock Christian, Swiercz ended the night with 14 points behind 4-for-6 shooting from three, had two assists, one block and a game high four steals. The Dustdevils held the Lady Chaps to their lowest point total (47) and shooting percentage (32.1%) this year and forced 22 turnovers. Swiercz followed that performance in a near upset of No. 2 West Texas A&M with a team-high 16 points and added another four steals to give her eight total on the weekend.
