MEN’S TRACK
Butare Rugenerwa, West Texas A&M, JR, Graphic Design, Amarillo, Texas, Amarillo HS
Rugenerwa registered the second-fastest indoor time in school history in the 800-meter run at the Texas Tech Invitational as the Amarillo product ran 1:49.69 to finish third behind Texas Tech's Marco Vilca and Texas A&M's Caden Norris. Rugenerwa now ranks second in Division II in the 800m race. The junior was also a part of the Buffs distance-medley-relay team that finished second with the fourth fastest time in program history at 10:00.94. With altitude conversions, the time converts to 9:56.09.
MEN’S FIELD
Elvis Kryukov, Angelo State, SO, Business Administration, Limassol, Cyprus, Agios Athanasios
Competing as the only Division II athlete in the heptathlon at the Texas Tech Multis, Kryukov collected 5,117 points, finishing ahead of six Division I athletes, to earn a provisional mark. He finished second overall in the shot put, tossing a distance of 47-5.75 (14.47m). Kryukov also earned top 10 finishes in the high jump (6-3.25, 1.91m) coming in ninth, and the 60-meter dash (7.11) in 10th. He currently ranks 10th overall in Division II in the event.
WOMEN’S TRACK
MyKaela Alfred, UT Tyler, SR, Business Administration, Tyler, Texas, Chapel Hill HS
Alfred made school history and brought home the top prize in the 60-meter hurdles on Saturday at the Washburn Open. Alfred broke the school record by .01 seconds in the event while competing in the finals. She also broke the event record in the event and took home first place by a margin of just .001 seconds. The time of 8.84 was also her new personal best in the event.
WOMEN’S FIELD
Zada Swoopes, West Texas A&M, SR, Sports & Exercise Science, Whitewright, Texas, Whitewright HS
Swoopes had an impressive season debut as she broke the program record in the weight throw and registered another Top 10 mark at the UNM Team Open in Albuquerque. The senior finished third in the weight throw field of 34 with a mark of 58-10.0 (17.93m) on her second and third attempts of the event. She also finished third in the shot put with the third-best mark in school history, 52-9.25 (16.08m). Swoopes now leads the conference in both events with her provisional marks and ranks first in the shot put in Division II.

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Jordan Hollis, Texas A&M-Commerce, ran the fastest time in the 400-meter dash (48.62 seconds) on Saturday at the Washburn Open. Later in the day, he competed in the 4x400m relay and the Lions raced to a time of 3:14.97, which is fastest in the LSC this season and ninth across Division II.
Jared Gilley, DBU, won the 800 meters at the Pittsburg State Invitational on Saturday. Gilley crossed the tape with a national qualifying time of 1:51.73. Giley's first place finish in the 800 meters is the first of his career.
Dylan Burrows, Oklahoma Christian, the Lone Star Conference’s 2021 outdoor 800-meter champion, posted Division II indoor provisional qualifying times in two events at the Washburn Open on Saturday. He finished first among 60 runners in the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.18, which ranks 19th this season in Division II. He also anchored OC’s 4x400 relay team, and the squad that included Coby Trevino, Keiontae Williamson and Camden Miller posted a time of 3:16.06, which ranks 14th in Division II.
Corey Perryman, UT Tyler, broke his own school record in the men's 60 meter hurdles the Washburn Open on Saturday. His time of 8.20 seconds clips the previous mark, set seven days ago, by just .01 seconds in the competition. Perryman came home with a sixth place finish and also set another NCAA provisional mark in the process.
Trayveon Franklin, Texas A&M-Commerce, jumped 48-0 (14.63m) in the triple jump on Friday at the Washburn Open, which is the third best in the LSC this season and best of any LSC athlete this past week. His mark is also 25th in the country. Franklin also competed in the long jump, recording a mark of 21-11.75 (6.70m).
Chaney Martin, Oklahoma Christian, set school record in the heptathlon during the Washburn Open, held Friday and Saturday in Topeka, Kan. He set a school record of 4,939 points in the heptathlon, breaking the former mark (set in 2014) by 156 points and meeting the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard. He finished second among the 13 competitors in the 60 meters with a career-best time of 7.19 seconds on Friday. On Saturday, he took third in the pole vault at 14-9 (4.50m) and won the final event, the 1,000 meters, in 2:45.50, to leap into fourth place in the overall standings. He also was sixth in the long jump (20-4.5), 10th in the shot put (34-7.5), 10th in the high jump (5-9.25) and fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.73 seconds).
Maïa Maury, Texas A&M-Commerce, competed in the pentathlon for the first time in her career and won the event by a facility record of 3,407 points. She won three of the five events, setting the second-best mark in the high jump in the LSC, clearing 5-4.5 (1.64m). She had the eighth fastest time in the LSC in the 800-meter run, clocking in a time of 2:23.30. She timed 9.51 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, which is 13th best in the LSC. Her total of 3,407 points is third in the LSC this season and 16th in the country.
Iniuto Ukpong, Texas A&M-Commerce, had the third best throw in the shot put in the LSC this season at the Washburn Open. She recorded a mark of 43-4.5 (13.22m). In the weight throw, she also threw 48-8.25 (14.84m), which broke the meet record.
Arianna Hayde, Eastern New Mexico, set a school record in the triple jump, with a leap of 38-0.75 (11.60m) this weekend at the UNM Team Open this past weekend. The jump finished in 7th overall against Division I competitors and 2nd among Division II competitors. Hayde's jump stands as the fourth-longest jump by an LSC student-athlete this season.
