Five Lone Star Conference tennis teams began the 2022 season undefeated against NCAA competition, including St. Mary’s No. 14th-ranked women’s team, UT Tyler’s No. 18th-ranked men’s team and Midwestern State’s 22nd-ranked women’s team. MSU and StMU’s men’s teams were also unbeaten during the opening week of the season.
 
    LSC men's and women's teams will play a single round-robin schedule, playing each league opponent. Each sport's LSC champion(s) will be the team(s) with the best winning percentage in conference matches.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
MEN’S
Sebastian Azcui, St. Mary’s, JR, Finance & Risk Management, La Paz, Bolivia
In a pair of 6-1 wins for the Rattlers on Saturday, Azcui was the only one on the team that competed in singles in both matches, winning 6-3, 6-3 over Tabor College at No. 4 and then won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 against Schreiner. The Bolivian native partnered with senior Chad Nguyen for a 6-2 victory at No. 2 over Tabor in doubles.
 
WOMEN’S
Callah Preti, St. Mary’s, FR, Biology, Liberty Lake, Wash., Gonzaga Prep
In her first collegiate matches, St. Mary's freshman Callah Preti dropped only one game in two matches on Saturday. She won her first college match 6-0, 6-0 against Tabor College in the morning and the afternoon, dictated the pace of play with a 6-1, 6-0 against Schreiner. She also paired with fellow freshman Elisa Rodriguez for a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles against Tabor.
