SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Larry Leitha, Lubbock Christian, had four hits in the two games the Chaps won against New Mexico Highlands, and every single one of them went for extra bases. He had a double, a triple and a pair of home runs for 13 total bases and a 1.300 slugging percentage on the weekend. He drove in eight runs with his four hits and scored four times in the two games, both of which LCU won in run-rule fashion.

Carson Cox, UT Tyler, was the most significant hitter in the Patriots lineup over the 2-2 series split with St. Edward's over the weekend. After not playing in game one, Cox stepped into a big spot in game one of the doubleheader on Sunday and responded with a 2-for-4 outing that included his first career home run coming in walk-off fashion to give the Patriots the win. Cox then added in a 3-for-6 line over the final two games of the series with a walk, stolen base, RBI, and two runs scored.

Adam Becker, West Texas A&M, was a force at the plate for the #3 Buffaloes this past weekend as they swept past the UT Permian Basin Falcons at Momentum Bank Ballpark in a four-game LSC series to move to 14-0 overall. The Midland native returned to his hometown and put on a show, hitting .412 during the series with a double and two homers to drive in rive RBI with 14 total bases for a slugging percentage of .824. Defensively, he was perfect at the hot corner with seven assists and a fielding percentage of 1.000. The opener saw Becker go 3-for-4 at the plate to drive in four, including a two-run blast to left center in the fifth in a 13-2 victory.

Carson Childers, Angelo State, picked up his second win and his second save of the season in ASU's sweep of St. Mary's. In his start, he threw five scoreless innings while giving up only one hit and three walks. He struck out four batters and did not give up a hit-by-pitch or a wild pitch. He also closed out game three of the series, earning the last out to pick up the save. He currently holds a 3.12 ERA on the season, which is 7th in the LSC.

A.J. Irvin, UT Tyler, got his first action of the season over the weekend and didn't miss a beat after making his return. In game one, Irvin stepped in with the Patriots down 5-1 and immediately calmed the storm over two innings. He allowed no hits while striking out four Hilltoppers hitters. On Monday in the series finale, Irvin came on in relief in the fifth inning and went three innings while allowing just one hit and striking out one hitter while earning the victory.

Jack Eagan, West Texas A&M, continued his hot start to the 2022 season on Sunday afternoon as the #3 Buffaloes picked up a 6-0 shutout victory in Game 2 against UT Permian Basin at Momentum Bank Ballpark in Midland on their way to an LSC sweep. The Wautoma, Wisconsin product tossed five scoreless innings with just two walks and four hits allowed while striking out a season-high nine Falcons to pick up his third victory of the season. Eagan was in control all afternoon as the potent UTPB offense hit just .211 off of the Mississippi State transfer in a combined shutout to win game two, 6-0.

Kalen Haynes, Cameron, held Eastern New Mexico to just two hits to earn his third win of the season on Sunday. The 6-foot-7 lefty went four innings in the 7-inning contest, allowing just a pair of singles and two walks while striking out four Greyhound hitters. Haynes held the opposition to a .154 batting average on a day when the CU staff held ENMU to a .120 average in two games.

Will Rodman, Oklahoma Christian, was masterful in a 3-1 win over Texas A&M International on Sunday, allowing only two hits (both singles) and one walk (that to the last batter he faced) while recording eight strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings. On a night when temperatures steadily dropped from the mid-50s to the high 30s, he retired 11 straight batters to start the game and 11 more in a row later in the contest. The only run Rodman surrendered was unearned, as a TAMIU runner scored in the fourth inning when one of his teammates dropped a two-out fly ball.
