Lubbock Christian’s Parker Hicks claimed Lone Star Conference Player of the Year honors for the second time in as many seasons, headlining men’s basketball postseason awards announced Wednesday by league officials.

The awards announcement came at the annual championship banquet at Main Event in Frisco, Texas, where the LSC Basketball Championship tournament is set to begin on Thursday at Comerica Center.  The men’s quarterfinal games will be played Thursday, March 3, and with the semifinals set for Saturday, March 5. Both the women’s and men’s championship games are on Sunday, March 6.

Joining Hicks on the first team was fellow Chap Lloyd Daniels, DBU’s Cameron Kahn, St. Edward’s Uche Dibiamaka, UAFS’ Matthew Wilson, and West Texas A&M trio Larry Wise, Zach Toussaint, Julius Brown.

Texas A&M-Commerce forward Clashon Gaffney was recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year. The LSC leader in blocked shots headlined the all-defensive team awards, which included Angelo State’s Tyrell Carroll, LCU’s Hicks, SEU’s Dibiamaka and WT’s Brown.

The Buffs’ Julius Brown was named Newcomer of the Year, while DBU’s Austin Garner took home the Sixth Man of the Year honors. LCU head coach Todd Duncan garnered Coach of the Year accolades for the second straight year.

Eastern New Mexico’s Kentrell Pullian was presented with the Freshman of the Year award. He was joined by fellow first-year players Deondre Earley from Cameron, Isaac Bullard from DBU, Aaron Gonzales from LCU and WT’s Jesse Iweze.
