LSC OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MEN’S TRACK
Bassem Hemeida, West Texas A&M, FR, Business, Doha, Qatar
At the WT Spring Break Classic, Hemeida ran a program record 49.99 in the 400m hurdles to surpass Rod Guillory's time of 50.84 set back in 1985 as he became the first Buff to ever finish under 50.  The freshman now has the fastest time in the nation as he ran the 20th-fastest time in NCAA DII history.
 
MEN’S FIELD
D.J. Delancy, Texas A&M-Kingsville, SR, Biomedical Sciences, Bethel Town, Jamacia, Munro College
Delancy logged his first provisional mark of the season after reaching 54-9.5 (16.70m) on his third attempt in the shot put. The Jamaican finished third at the Wes Kittley Invitational, with his measure ranking ninth on the NCAA Division II Outdoor performance list. Additionally, Delancy logged a new personal best in the discus after slinging the implement 148-3 (45.18m) to place 11th amongst a slew of DI athletes.
 
WOMEN’S TRACK
Mijah Collier, UT Tyler, JR, Health Sciences, Trenton, New Jersey
Collier earned the fifth Patriots victory of the day at the Ice Breaker Classic after a dominating win in the 400-meter hurdles. Collier ran away from all the competition on Saturday, winning the event by 2.6 seconds over a field that included LSC competitors. The time of 1:04.35 sets a new meet record over her own record by exactly one second.
 
WOMEN’S FIELD
Katryna Hernandez, Texas A&M-Kingsville, SO, Kinesiology, Skidmore, Texas, Skidmore Synan HS
Hernandez currently ranks fourth nationally, after reaching 46-4 (14.12m) in the shot put at the 2022 Trinity Invitational. At the invite, she finished atop the podium in the shot put while also placing fourth in the discus and sixth in the hammer throw in San Antonio. Hernandez also competed at the Wes Kittley Invitational since beginning the outdoor season, where she placed sixth in the shot put amongst a slew of NCAA Division I competitors, while also setting a new personal best in the discus at 133-0 (40.55m).

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Corey Perryman, UT Tyler, started his outdoor season in style as he collected a victory in the men's 110 hurdles at the Ice Breaker Classic. In the preliminary round, Perryman ran a time of 14.83 seconds as he was the only runner to break the 15 second mark. In the finals, he ran a time of 14.58 seconds to lead an all-Patriots podium and break his own meet record in the discipline that he set in 2021.
 
   Dylan Burrows, Oklahoma Christian, in his first collegiate 1,500-meter race, posted a runner-up finish on Friday night in Abilene Christian's Wes Kittley Invitational. The sophomore from Melbourne, Australia, placed second in the field of 40 runners with a time of 3:52.72, just .02 behind Mehdi Tanouri of South Plains (Texas) College.
 
   Martin Segurola, St. Edward's, set the school record in the 800-meters at the Trinity Invite.  His finished first with a time of 1:53.02.
 
   Alex Rodriguez, UT Tyler, wasted no time making a name in the outdoor season as he won the shot put in the Ice Breaker Classic. Rodriguez used a throw of 16.36 meters to extend his own lead and set a new meet record in the event. That mark won the competition by .73 meters over several Division I opponents.
 
   Marissa Insinna, DBU, won both the 1500 meters and 5000 meters at the UT Tyler Icebreaker to open the outdoor season.  Insinna clocked personal record times in both events, crossing the tape in 4:45.86 in the 1500 and finishing with a time of 18:06.09 in the 5000.
 
   Bryah Davis, Oklahoma Christian, in Abilene Christian's Wes Kittley Invitational on Saturday, finished sixth among 37 runners in the 100 meters with a time of 12.06 seconds. The sophomore from Cedar Hill, Texas, also placed 11th of 41 women in the 200 meters with a time of 24.79 seconds, her career best in an outdoor track meet.
 
   Ellie Hovre, St. Edward's, set the school record in the 1500 meters at the Trinity Invite.  She finished in second place with a time of 4:46.65.
 
   Brooklyn House, UT Tyler, came home with a strong showing at the Ice Breaker Classic that included a third and sixth place finish. In the shot put, House hit a mark of 39-4 (11.99m) to vault herself into sixth place. In the discus, House threw 130-0 (39.62m) to place third and collect a podium finish for the Patriots.
