LSC Indoor Track and Field awards revealed

The All-Lone Star Conference teams honored 114 athletes for their efforts at the 2022 LSC Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships.  The awards were announced Wednesday by league officials.
 
      West Texas A&M won its ninth consecutive women’s title, and WT claimed the men’s crown for the fourth time at the league’s indoor meet February 25-26.
 
      The list of all-conference performers includes the first team, which consists of event winners, all members of the winning relay teams, and athletes scoring 14 or more points at the LSC Championships.  The second team includes athletes on the second-place relay teams and those scoring 8-13.9 points, while the third team recognizes members of third-place relay teams and athletes scoring 6-7.9 points.  Overall, 58 men and 57 women were honored.
 
      WT had 18 women’s honorees, including six first-teamers, while Angelo State had eight recipients, and Eastern New Mexico had seven.
 
      On the men’s side, WT had 17 earn All-LSC honors with nine on the top squad, while Texas A&M-Commerce had 15 with five first-teamers, and Texas A&M-Kingsville eight.
 
      In addition to the announcement of All-LSC performers, the league recognized four student-athletes and two coaches with individual awards.
 
      TAMUC’s Minna Svaerd picked up Outstanding Female Track Athlete honors, while ASU’s Antonija Radic repeated as the Outstanding Female Field Athlete.  The Lady Buffs Matt Stewart was tabbed Women’s Track Coach of the Year for the fifth straight year.
 
      WT’s Benjamin Azamati earned Outstanding Male Track Athlete acclaim for the second straight year, while TAMUC’s Ushan Perera claimed Outstanding Male Field Athlete acclaim.  The Buffs Matt Stewart earned Men’s Track Coach of the Year honors for the third time.
 
      The special awards were voted upon by the league coaches.
 
      The 2022 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships are March 11-12 in Pittsburg, Kan.

NOTE: The all-conference first team shall consist of event winners, including all members of the winning relay teams, and athletes scoring 14 or more points at the Conference Championships Meet.  The all-conference second team shall consist of all members of second-place relay teams and athletes scoring 8-13.9 points. The all-conference third team shall consist of all members of third-place relay teams and athletes scoring 6-7.9 points.
