Five Lone Star Conference tennis teams were undefeated last week, including nationally-ranked Cameron's men's and women's teams and UT Tyler's men's team. Angelo State's and UTT's women's teams were also unbeaten.
UTT took over the top spot in the men's standings, moving to 4-0, followed by MSU, who remained at 3-0. CU sits third in the men's standings at 2-1. The Aggies moved into first place in the women's standings at 3-0, followed by MSU at 4-1 and ASU, StMU and UTT tied for third at 3-1.
LSC men's and women's teams will play a single round-robin schedule, playing each league opponent. Each sport's LSC champion(s) will be the team(s) with the best winning percentage in conference matches.

MEN’S
Joaquin Bianchi, UT Tyler, JR, Management, Buenos Aires, Argentina, SEADEA
Bianchi went 4-0 over the weekend against Western New Mexico and UT Permian Basin while helping lead UT Tyler to a pair of 7-0 victories. Bianchi paired with Jonas Dixon for both doubles matches in the No. 2 slot and took down their opponents by set scores of 6-3 and 6-1. The junior from Argentina played in the top singles position and dominated with a pair of straight-set wins. Against the Mustangs, Bianchi won 6-4, 6-2, and against the Falcons, Bianchi took on Enrique Sanchez, ranked 50th in Division II singles, and delivered another 6-4, 6-2 victory. The wins extend his singles match winning streak to three in LSC play and his doubles streak is now at two matches.
WOMEN’S
Dianela Rodriguez, Angelo State, JR, Marketing, Mexico City, Mexico, Prepa en Linea SEP
Rodriguez set the tone for the Belles at line one in singles play as they claimed a pair of conference wins last weekend. Against DBU, she defeated the Lady Patriots' Caroline Hudson 6-4, 6-2 as the Belles claimed a 7-0 win. The next day against No. 33 Midwestern State, she defeated 36th-ranked Anda Ghinga 6-2, 6-2, with the Belles winning 4-3 over the Mustangs. Rodriguez, who is ranked 17th in the ITA singles rankings, is 11-2 this spring.

SELECTED OTHER PERFORMANCES
Tomas Almeida, Cameron, helped the 34th ranked Aggies earn their second Lone Star Conference win by edging out St. Mary's 4-3 on Friday. He and doubles partner Thomas Cardona got CU started with a 6-2 win in doubles to help earn the point, and then he earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at one to give the team another point on their way to the close conference victory. Almeida, ranked No. 46 by the ITA in singles, is now 9-5 in singles this season with an 11-3 doubles record.
Oskar Irdoja, St. Mary’s, won a pair of matches at No. 5 singles for the Rattlers as they opened Lone Star Conference play. The Estonian sophomore won his first-career LSC match with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over UAFS and backed it up with a 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 victory over 34th-ranked Cameron. Irdoja is now 11-2 in duals this spring.
Vasilisa Polunova, Cameron, was a key part of the Aggies extending their win streak and staying unbeaten in Lone Star Conference Play with a 5-2 win over St. Mary's this week. She and doubles partner Karolina Glowinska won 6-4 to decide the doubles point in favor of CU, and then the junior came back from a 7-5 loss in set one to No. 15 Ashley Penshorn to win 6-4, 6-1 in the final two sets to earn a point at the top of the lineup. Polunova is no 10-3 in singles play, and 11-2 in doubles play this season.
Casie Curry, Midwestern State, dropped one match as the Mustangs went 1-1 on the weekend. The junior won 6-3, 6-4 against Raina Zaffar of Texas A&M-Kingsville at singles line four. She also won both doubles matches with partner Emilija Visic at line two for MSU. The Wichita Falls native is 14-4 in singles play, while the 44th-ranked duo holds a 13-2 doubles record.
Marina Vigil, St. Mary’s, won both matches this week for the Rattlers, winning 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 against UAFS and 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 against fifth-ranked Cameron. She also won both doubles matches at No. 3 with partner Gabi Ioannou, posting a 6-0 victory over the Lions and 7-5 against the Aggies. The Gijon, Spain native is 8-3 in singles and 10-2 in doubles during the spring and improved to 4-0 at No. 3 singles with the win on Thursday.
Leony Deutschmann, UT Tyler, enjoyed a big 4-0 week as she was a key contributor in leading the Patriots to a pair of team victories to move to 3-1 in LSC play. In both matches, Deutschmann paired with teammate Kanika Sivaraman in doubles, with the duo delivering two dominant victories by set scores of 6-2 and 6-1. In singles, the freshman from Berlin, Germany, took on the No. 1 match and kept her unblemished record with another pair of big wins. Deutschmann dropped just three games over the weekend in two matches as she earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory against the Mustangs and a 6-0, 6-2 win over the Falcons. She has now extended her match-winning streak to four in singles and has now won her last three doubles matches.
