The 10-team bracket is complete for the 2022 Lone Star Conference Softball Championship, which will be played over three days at Irwin Ballpark on the campus of The University of Texas at Tyler, starting on Thursday, May 5.
UT Tyler is the top seed and host after claiming its second straight LSC title with a 26-4 league record. Texas A&M-Kingsville is the second seed, followed by Lubbock Christian, Texas A&M-Commerce, Angelo State, and Oklahoma Christian. St. Mary's, West Texas A&M, Cameron, and St. Edward's round out the field.

In the NCAA Division II South Central Region, LSC teams are 37-18 combined versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference competition.

SOFTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Kasey Flores, Lubbock Christian, SR, Humanities, Infield, El Paso, Texas, Eastlake
Flores helped LCU claim their fourth win of the season against a top-10 program, which is the most in a single season since 2013. She went 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBI in the 9-4 win over Angelo State. Flores’ first home run helped LCU regain the lead and it came on the ninth pitch of a two-out at-bat. Flores was 2-for-4 with runners on base and 1-for-2 with the bases empty. The pair of blasts, her second multi-homer game of the season, has her with 17 home runs on the season. Seven of the homers have come with two outs and eight have come when LCU has either trailed or were tied at the time of the home run. Flores also surpassed 50 RBI (52) this season, with her five RBI Saturday.

Jacey Henry, UT Tyler, SR, Business Administration, RHP, Marietta, Okla., Turner HS
Henry tossed a complete game against #20 Texas A&M-Commerce in game two on Saturday afternoon, enduring a nearly four-hour weather delay to close out the Patriots 40th victory of the season with the 4-1 decision. She kept the Lion offense in check through the first three innings prior to the delay entering the top of the fourth inning. Henry returned to the circle to finish the game and help UT Tyler hold onto their 4-0 lead. The Marietta, Okla. native struck out nine batters in 7.0 innings, and stranded four runners in scoring position. She allowed just six hits and conceded her only run on an unearned run in the top of the seventh inning.

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Ashlynn Box, Angelo State, was perfect in six plate appearances against No. 13 Lubbock Christian. In game one's 10-6 win, she walked in all three of her plate appearances. In game two, she went 3-for-3 from the plate with a two-run home run.
Trish Gallardo, Western New Mexico, was pivotal in the Mustangs offense this weekend, in their two game sweep against UTPB. Gallardo went 5-8 on the weekend, including going 4-5 in game two. In game two Gallardo hit her first two homers, the first being a two-run homerun and a grand slam. She also hit an RBI triple in the game. Four of her five runs came in game two, along with her seven RBI's.
Jennifer Giesey, Texas A&M-Kingsville, homered three times during final weekend of the regular season to lead the Javelinas to a doubleheader sweep of Texas A&M International. Her solo homer in the first game gave the Javs a 2-0 lead and that run proved to be the difference in a 3-1 TAMUK triumph. In the fifth inning of game two, Giesey broke a 1-1 tie with a solo shot to left, then hit added another long ball in the seventh inning of a 4-1 victory. Giesey is the first Javelina to homer three times in one day since Roxy Chapa hit three dingers in a twin bill against Huston-Tillotson on April 5th, 2016.
Jayme Johns, St. Mary's, recorded the winning RBIs in both games at rival St. Edward's on Saturday, as she knocked in two on a single to left center in the second inning for the 4-0 lead and the Rattlers would go on to win 4-3 and in the regular season finale, Johns singled to left in the top of the eighth to drive in Victoria Aldridge for the 2-1 lead. Johns scored four batters later for the 3-1 final score. For the week, Johns hit .571 and stole a base as the Rattlers were 6-for-6 in that category.
Madison Schaefer, Texas A&M-Commerce, homered twice at No. 1 UT Tyler on Saturday, both coming in game one. She had three hits in six at-bats total against the No. 1 team in the country and has hit six home runs in the last 13 games.
Paige Tamayo, Texas Woman's, In the last games of her career, hit a home run and double to record 2 RBIs, as the Pioneers swept Midwestern State.
Ashley Perez, UT Tyler, posted key hits in the Patriot wins over #20 Texas A&M-Commerce to secure the outright 2022 Lone Star Conference Softball Regular Season Championship on Saturday afternoon. Perez began her day with an RBI double in game one that extended the UT Tyler lead in the bottom of the third to a 4-1 margin. She then posted the first two runs on the board with her UT Tyler record 42nd home run of her career in the bottom of the first in game two. Perez went 2-for-6 between the two games and finished the afternoon with three RBI and a run scored.
Kylie Janzen, Oklahoma Christian, smashed a three-run home run over the right-field wall in the first inning that proved to be the difference in a 3-1 win over Cameron in the Eagles' regular-season finale in Lawton that gave OC a doubleheader sweep. For the week, she hit .300 with a .462 on-base percentage and a .600 slugging percentage.
Catalina Cavazos, St. Mary's, retired 10 straight batters during game two at St. Edward's on Saturday, as well as the final five as the teams went into extra innings. After her offense scored two in the top of the eighth to give the Rattlers the lead, Cavazos got two easy fly ball outs and struck out the final batter to secure the victory and win her 18th game of the season. She held the Hilltoppers to a .172 average for the game and all five hits were singles.
Kali Crandall, Oklahoma Christian, won a pitchers' duel against Cameron's Josie Swofford, tossing a complete-game three-hitter as Oklahoma Christian finished a road doubleheader sweep with a 3-1 win on Saturday. Only one of those three hits came after the first inning. It was Crandall's ninth complete game of the season.
Brook Leger, Eastern New Mexico, helped ENMU earn a split with West Texas A&M this past weekend. The Albuquerque, N.M. posted an ERA of 1.40 and held opposing hitter to a .142 batting average. Leger was a key in the circle, throwing a complete game in the 3-2 win against WT. Leger picked up four strikeouts in game one against the Buffs and allowed just five hits in the contest. During game two, Leger tossed 3.0 scoreless innings of relief allowing just one walk and no hits, along with three strikeouts.
