LSC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Central
Texas A&M-Commerce and West Texas A&M top the men’s and women’s team standings, respectively, after seven events at the 2022 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Kingsville, Texas.
On the women’s side, WT amassed 88 points with four gold medal performances. Zada Swoopes picked up a pair of titles in the hammer and discus. Taylor Nelloms defended her title in the triple jump and Grace Dwyer finished first in the 3,000m steeplechase.
Angelo State is second with 73 points and two titles as Maricia Spence won the Heptathlon, and Antonija Radic prevailed in the high jump.
The TAMUC men earned 64 points with individual titles from the trio of Dodley Thermitus (triple jump), Moaz Ibrahim (discus), and Ushan Perera (high jump). Perera claimed his second straight gold.
WT sits in second with 63 points and two first-place finishes. Harry Louradour won the 10,000-meters, and Noah Bundrock reigned in the 3,000m steeplechase. The Buffs Benjamin Azamati posted a championship record in the prelims, with a time of 9.96 in the 100-meters.
The LSC Outdoor Championships conclude tomorrow with field events starting at 11 a.m., and running events at 5:30 p.m.
