LSC Indoor Track and Field Weekly Release - Week 2

Lone Star Conference Indoor Track and Field athletes have recorded 56 NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks (30 men, 26 women).  See the LSC performance list here: https://www.tfrrs.org/lists/3980.html.
 
      The 2023 LSC Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held at the Texas Tech Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas on February 18-19.
 
LSC INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MEN’S TRACK
Isaac Botsio, West Texas A&M, FR, Sports & Exercise Science, Takoradi, Ghana, Ghana Secondary Technical School
Botsio impressed during his second collegiate indoor meet as the freshman sprinter from Takoradi, Ghana ran the top-time in Division II so far this season in the 60m with a converted 6.66 to hit a provisional mark in the event. He finished fifth at the Texas Tech Corky Classic, serving as the only non-D1 athlete in the 60m Dash finals. The Buffs now hold the top-three times this season in the 60m.
 
MEN’S FIELD
Joseph Oreva, West Texas A&M, JR, Fine Arts, Ughelli, Nigeria, Noble Crest Secondary School
Oreva made an immediate impact on the indoor season on Friday afternoon as the freshman from Ughelli, Nigeria took over the top spot in the country in the men's Long Jump with a mark of 25-4.75 (7.74m) to hit a DII provisional mark and shatter the West Texas A&M school record. The Carson-Newman transfer now holds three different marks inside of the All-Time DII Top-30 including Saturday's 7.74m which ranks tied for 26th.
 
WOMEN’S TRACK
Eleonora Curtabbi, West Texas A&M, SR, Environmental Science, Turin, Italy, Liceo Artistico Aldo Passoni
Curtabbi picked up a third-place finish in the women's mile at the Texas Tech Corky Classic this past weekend as the senior from Turin, Italy now holds the top spot in the nation with a converted 4:51.97 which hits a provisional mark in the event. Curtabbi made her first appearance on the track this season in Lubbock following a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in December.
 
WOMEN’S FIELD
Taylor Nelloms, West Texas A&M, JR, Kinesiology, Humble, Texas, Atascocita HS
The two-time National Champion continued to impress for the Lady Buffs this past weekend at the Texas Tech Corky Classic with a pair of top-10 finishes at the Sports Performance Center. Nelloms finished second overall in the triple jump with a 41-10.5 (12.76m) mark which is an NCAA provisional qualifier and ranks number one in the nation so far this season.  She finished 10th in the long jump (17-2.75 (5.25m)).
