LSC Women's Basketball Weekly Release - Week 8

Angelo State, Lubbock Christian, Texas A&M International, Texas Woman's, UT Tyler, and West Texas A&M each went 2-0 in Lone Star Conference contests in the last week.
 
      LSC games continue this week with each team playing a double round-robin schedule within their eight-team division. Additionally, teams will play eight crossover competitions against teams from the opposite division for a total of 22 conference games.
 
      The LSC Women’s Basketball Championship will feature an eight-team field in 2023 with seeding based on the 22 conference games. The divisional winners will receive the top two seeds in the tournament. The championships are set to take place March 2-3-4-5, 2023, at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.
 
      LSC women’s basketball teams are 111-91 overall and 22-16 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the other league in the South Central Region.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Grace Foster, Lubbock Christian, SO, Management Information Systems, Forward, Childress, Texas, Childress HS
Foster averaged a double-double on the week, as LCU claimed home wins over Cameron and Midwestern State. Foster ranked tied for second among LSC individuals in both scoring (19.5 points per game) and rebounding (10.5 per game). She opened the weekend with 12 points against CU, with all 12 points scored in the first half to help LCU cruise to an 85-34 win. Foster followed with her fifth double-double of the season, posting 27 points and 14 rebounds against MSU along with three blocks and four assists. Foster was 10-of-16 (.625) from the field on the week and went 16-of-18 (.889) from the free-throw line. Her 27-point performance Sunday inside Rip Griffin Center was the highest scoring mark at home for LCU since the 2017-18 season.
 
DEFENSIVE
Sawyer Lloyd, Angelo State, JR, Exercise Science, Guard, Wall, Texas, Wall HS
Lloyd rang in the new year right where she left off in 2022 with a pair of impressive performances against Western New Mexico and Eastern New Mexico. In a tight contest against WNMU, Lloyd posted 11 points, six rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a steal as the Rambelles held the Mustangs to just 32.3 percent shooting. The Wall, Texas native filled up the stat sheet in ASU’s victory over ENMU with 19 points, 13 rebounds, six steals, five assists, and two more blocks.
