Angelo State University senior Hannah Kinnison was named Lone Star Conference Volleyball Academic Player of the Year and leads the 14-player LSC 2023 Volleyball All-Academic Team announced by the Conference on Wednesday (Nov. 15).
Majoring in Food Animal Science Marketing, Kinnison maintains a 4.0 grade-point average. She earned the Division II Athletics Director Association Achievement Award and the ASU Athletic Academic Excellence Award in 2022-23. Kinnison is a two-time LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree and is a first-time recipient of All-Academic Team honors. On the volleyball court, the outside hitter from Sligo, Colo., ranks second in the LSC with a 3.82 kills average behind a .335 hitting percentage.
Lubbock Christian led the volleyball academic awards with three honorees, while Texas Woman's and West Texas A&M placed two each on the academic team. Angelo State, DBU, Oklahoma Christian, UAFS, St. Mary's, Texas A&M International and UT Tyler had one honoree each.
Three players were named for a second year to the All-Academic Team: Kiana Fallaha and Kayton Genebacher of Lubbock Christian, and Adeline Ortman from UT Tyler. The trio and Kinnison are joined by Shaylee Shore (DBU), Kalli Dalland (LCU), Brylie Berryman (OC), Alyssa Koehl (StMU), Emma Lade (TAMIU), Cara Pool and Tori Woods (TWU), Paola Fragalle (UAFS), and Ainsley Malis and Taytum Stow (WTAMU).
The LSC Volleyball All-Academic team, selected by the conference sports information directors, recognizes individuals for high-level athletic and academic achievements. To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must have played in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests; reached sophomore athletic and academic standing; completed at least one full academic year at the nominating institution; and have a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average over their collegiate career.
