The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming December 21 as WORLD BASKETBALL DAY to commemorate an important date in the history of the sport – the date in 1891 in Springfield, Mass., that Dr. James Naismith invented the game of basketball. World Basketball Day showcases the role basketball plays in bringing people together and uniting communities around the world. The LSC and its 17 member institutions join the basketball community throughout the world in celebrating #WorldBasketballDay on Thursday.

There are no LSC men’s basketball teams in action until Dec. 30 when DBU and UT Tyler play a league game and UAFS has a non-conference tilt. Lubbock Christian plays a non-conference game on Dec. 31, then the entire league resumes conference play on Jan. 4.
