LSC Men's Basketball Weekly Release - Week 5

The Lone Star Conference men’s basketball schedule opened on Nov. 30 and continued Dec. 2. All 16 LSC teams were in action. Of those, only five began their league slate 2-0: Angelo State, DBU, Eastern New Mexico, Lubbock Christian and West Texas A&M. DBU is still unbeaten on the season at 6-0.

OFFENSIVE
Jahcoree Ealy, Eastern New Mexico, G, Sr., University Studies, Conway, Ark. (Guy Perkins HS)
Ealy averaged 23.5 points – including pouring in a career-high 31 – 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists to lead Eastern New Mexico to a 2-0 start in LSC play against St. Edward’s and St. Mary’s. Ealy shot 72 percent from the field and hit 8 of 10 free throw attempts. His play helped the Greyhounds score 100-plus points in both games. Ealy’s 31-point performance against St. Mary’s was the second highest single-game point total in the league this season.
 
DEFENSIVE
Ryland Holt, West Texas A&M, G, Sr., MBA, Gibson City, Ill. (Gibson City-Melvin Sibely)
Holt totaled four blocked shots, four steals and pulled down 10 defensive rebounds to help nationally-ranked West Texas A&M to a 2-0 start in LSC play on the road against UAFS and Oklahoma Christian. Holt and company held their two opponents to under a 70-point scoring average. Holt added 12.5 points per game, as well as four assists, to help the Buffs win their third straight game – all on the road.
