Tay McGhee-Pleasant posted back-to-back career scoring bests in leading Angelo State to road wins vs. Texas A&M-Kingsville and RV Texas A&M International. The senior forward opened with 27 points against the Javelinas and followed with 28 points and 10 rebounds in handing TAMIU its first loss of the season. McGhee-Pleasant shot a combined 56 percent from the field (19-for-34) and 72 percent at the line (13-of-18), adding 17 rebounds, five assists, and a pair of steals to her two-game totals.
DEFENSIVE
Montse Gutierrez, UT Tyler, F, Grad., Business Administration, Vitoria, Spain
The defensive play of Montse Gutierrez helped UT Tyler to a 2-0 start in LSC play. The forward recorded eight steals, eight rebounds and three blocked shots over the two-game road swing, holding Cameron and Midwestern State to a combined 52.5-point average and 38 percent from the field. Gutierrez contributed 18 points, including four three-point field goals, and five assists to the UT Tyler offense.
