LSC Men's Basketball Weekly Release - Week 14

Angelo State, St. Edward's, St. Mary's, Texas A&M International, and West Texas A&M were each unbeaten in Lone Star Conference games last week.
 
      LSC games continue with each team playing a double round-robin schedule within their eight-team division. Additionally, teams will play eight crossover contests against teams from the opposite division for a total of 22 conference games.
 
      The LSC Men’s Basketball Championship will feature an eight-team field in 2023 with seeding based on the 22 conference games. The divisional winners will receive the top two seeds in the tournament. The championships are set to take place March 2-3-4-5, 2023, at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.
 
      LSC men’s basketball teams are 17-17 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the other league in the South Central Region.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Julius Brown, West Texas A&M, SR, Business, Guard, Westerville, Ohio, Westerville North HS
Brown led a WT offense that averaged 94.5 points last week. Against Eastern New Mexico, the senior guard posted 28 points, six rebounds, and five assists. In the Buffs' 91-66 win over Western New Mexico, Brown led WT in scoring with 17 points while adding four assists and five steals.  For the week, he shot 75.0% from the field including 85.7% from behind the arc.
 
DEFENSIVE
Tiras Morton, Texas A&M International, SO, Kinesiology, Guard, Austin, Texas, Ranger JC/Jack C. Hayes HS
Morton had a great week for TAMIU with two all-around stat lines. In Thursday's 65-64 win over DBU, Morton put together a line of eight points, seven rebounds, five assists, two blocks and a steal. He followed that on Saturday with six points, four rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in an 80-76 victory over UT Tyler.  Morton helped hold opponents to a field goal percentage of 43.2%.
