LSC Baseball Weekly Release - Week 2

Two Lone Star Conference teams - Angelo State and St. Edward’s – remain undefeated to start the year.
 
      LSC teams are playing a single round-robin schedule with a four-game weekend series against each league opponent.
 
      The LSC Championship will feature a two-week tournament comprised of the top eight teams with the opening round at on-campus sites May 5-7. The winners of each opening round series will advance to a double-elimination tournament played May 11-13. The winner of the postseason tournament will be recognized as the LSC Tournament Champion and receive the conference’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA postseason.
 
      In the NCAA Division II South Central Region, LSC teams are 2-0 combined versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference competition.
 
BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Nick Wolff, Texas A&M-Kingsville, JR, Wildlife and Range Management, Catcher, Klein, Texas, Homeschool
Wolff batted .529 across a trio of road victories over No. 17 West Texas A&M, mashing three home runs and driving in 11. The junior from Klein, Texas, caught all four games for the Javelinas, logging nine hits and crossing the plate himself eight times. Additionally, he was walked three times en route to an OPS of 1.737 against the Buffs.
 
PITCHER
Braxton Pearson, Angelo State, JR, Communications, RHP, Georgetown, Texas, Georgetown HS
Pearson, a junior righty from Georgetown, Texas, tossed a complete game shutout against Cameron in ASU's 12-0 win. He allowed only one base runner through seven innings while striking out 10 batters and holding the Aggies to a batting average of .043 on the day. He picked up his second victory to improve to 2-0 on the year and leads the LSC in opponent batting average at .098.
