LSC Women's Basketball Weekly Release - Week 15

Arkansas-Fort Smith, Lubbock Christian, Oklahoma Christian, Texas A&M-Kingsville, UT Permian Basin and West Texas A&M were each unbeaten in Lone Star Conference contests last week. 
 
      The LSC regular season – featuring 22 conference games – comes to a close on Saturday.
 
      The LSC Women’s Basketball Championship will feature an eight-team field in 2023 with seeding based on the 22 conference games. The divisional winners will receive the top two seeds in the tournament. The championships are set to take place March 2-3-4-5, 2023, at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.
 
      LSC women’s basketball teams are 22-16 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the other league in the South Central Region.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Sawyer Lloyd, Angelo State, JR, Exercise Science, Guard, Wall, Texas, Wall HS
Lloyd had a career night, scoring 34 points – the third highest total in the LSC this season – to help Angelo State hand nationally-ranked Texas Woman’s its first conference loss of the season. She shot 59 percent from the field with four 3-pointers. Lloyd also posted 16 points in a game against UT Tyler. Over the two games, she averaged five rebounds and added four steals and three assists.
 
DEFENSIVE
Avalon Munoz, UT Permian Basin, SO, Computer Science, Guard, San Antonio, Texas, Edison HS
Munoz led UT Permian Basin to wins over UT Tyler and nationally-ranked Texas Woman’s – holding both teams under their scoring average. Munoz pulled down 11 defensive rebounds and totaled five steals against the two teams that had only lost a combined six games all season. She also chipped in 14 points per game and dished out eight assists.
