LSC teams are currently playing a single round-robin schedule with a four-game weekend series against each league opponent.
The LSC Championship will feature a two-week tournament comprised of the top eight teams with the opening round at on-campus sites May 5-7. The winners of each opening round series will advance to a double-elimination tournament played May 11-13. The winner of the postseason tournament will be recognized as the LSC Tournament Champion and receive the conference’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA postseason.
In the NCAA Division II South Central Region, LSC teams are 3-0 combined versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference competition.
BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Clay Bradford, St. Mary’s, SR, Finance and Rick Management, OF, Atascocita, Texas, AHS
Bradford batted .545 over five games, including going 6-for-6 (tying the school record for hits in a game) and hitting for the cycle. He had two home runs, a triple, two doubles and eight RBIs. Bradford also scored six runs and stole two bases. On the season, he has reached base safely in all 15 of St. Mary’s games. Against Oklahoma Christian, he even went on the mound and tossed a complete game to fuel a 4-2 win.
PITCHER
Colton Taylor, Texas A&M-Kingsville, JR, Kinesiology, RHP, Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada, General Amherst HS
Taylor tossed a nine-inning, complete-game shutout with eight strikeouts to lead a 4-0 win over Cameron. Taylor allowed only two hits in the road game. It was the right-hander’s second straight week with a complete-game shutout.
