LSC Men's Basketball Weekly Release - Week 13

Eastern New Mexico, Lubbock Christian, St. Edward’s, West Texas A&M, and Western New Mexico were each unbeaten in Lone Star Conference games last week.
 
      LSC games continue with each team playing a double round-robin schedule within their eight-team division. Additionally, teams will play eight crossover contests against teams from the opposite division for a total of 22 conference games.
 
      The LSC Men’s Basketball Championship will feature an eight-team field in 2023 with seeding based on the 22 conference games. The divisional winners will receive the top two seeds in the tournament. The championships are set to take place March 2-3-4-5, 2023, at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.
 
      LSC men’s basketball teams are 202-165 overall and 17-17 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the other league in the South Central Region.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Antonio Gordon, Oklahoma Christian, JR, Interdisciplinary studies, Forward, Lawton, Oklahoma, Eisenhower HS
Gordon led Oklahoma Christian offensively, putting up career-highs in back-to-back games. Gordon scored 28 points in OC's win over Texas A&M-Kingsville, going 10-14 from the field, and 7-8 from the charity stripe. In Saturday's game against Texas A&M International, Gordon scored 30 points, going 14-17 from the free throw line.  For the week, averaged 29 points with a 66.7% field goal percentage and 6.5 rebounds.
 
DEFENSIVE
Damion Thornton, West Texas A&M, SR, Sports and Exercise Science, Guard, Edmond, Okla., Edmond North HS
Thornton helped WT to wins over UT Permian Basin and No. 15 Angelo State at home this past week. In the Buffs' win over the Falcons, Thornton hauled in seven rebounds, a block, and a steal on defense along with 15 points and an assist. Against the Rams, Thornton grabbed seven rebounds with two steals.  He also did damage from the charity stripe, scoring 12 of his 18 points on free throws.  The senior helped limit opponents to 66.5 points per game.
