Texas A&M-Kingsville’s D.J. Delancy and West Texas A&M’s Miriam Zanovello have been selected as Lone Star Conference Indoor Track and Field Academic Athletes of the Year, it was announced by the league office on Friday (March 10).

Delancy, a graduate student thrower from Bethel Town, Jamacia, has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout his career studying Biomedical Sciences. He has won the Indoor Track and Field Academic Athlete of the Year Award in back-to-back years and is the reigning LSC Fred Jacoby Academic Athlete of the Year. At the LSC Indoor Championships, he was third in the shot put (16.44m).
Joining Delancy on the men's All-Academic Team is teammate Blake Gordon; Angelo State’s Cole Paxton; Dallas Baptist’s Noah Metzger and Adam Whitehead; Lubbock Christian’s Trael Robertson; UT Tyler’s Ty McDaniel and West Texas A&M’s Ray Dixon, Seniru Amarasinghe, Jeremiah Lauzon and Gustavo Posada.
Delancy and Metzger are four-time selections.
Zanovello, a senior jumper from Chivasso, Italy, holds a 4.0 GPA as a Chemistry major. At the LSC indoor Championships, she was runner-up in the triple jump (12.37m) and third in long jump (5.81m).
Zanovello was joined on the women’s All-Academic Team by teammates Leah Belfield and Hekla Magnusdottir; Angelo State’s Maricia Spence and Shiean Walters; Dallas Baptist’s Madison Brown, Rylee Cristan, Meadow Housman and Emme O’Donnell; Lubbock Christian’s Kiley Cummings; and UT Tyler’s Abeni Kratzmeyer.
Belfield is a three-time pick, while Cristan is a back-to-back selection.
To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.30 grade point average and have reached sophomore status both athletically and academically. The Academic Athlete of Year Award and All-Academic Team are selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league's sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement.
