OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
 
MEN’S TRACK
Ja'Qualon Scott, Texas A&M-Kingsville, SO, Business Marketing, Houston, Texas, L.V. Hightower HS
Scott ran the nation’s fastest 100m hurdle time (13.62) to win gold at the West Kittley Invitational in Abilene, Texas. He also won first place in the 400m hurdles with a 52.63. That mark has him ranked fourth in the country.
 
MEN’S FIELD
Thomas Nieto, Texas A&M-Kingsville, SO, Undecided, Ibaque, Columbia
Nieto posted a first-place finish in the pole vault as Texas A&M-Kingsville traveled to the West Kittley Invitational in Abilene, Texas. His height of 17-3.75 (5.28m) is the top mark in all of NCAA Division II.
 
WOMEN’S TRACK
Shadae Findley, Angelo State, JR, Management, Manchester, Jamaica, St. Elizabeth Technical
Findley won the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:13.96 as Angelo State traveled to the West Kittley Invitational in Abilene, Texas. Her mark is the fastest in the LSC and ranks sixth in the country.
 
WOMEN’S FIELD
Maricia Spence, Angelo State, Economics, Christiana, Jamaica, Holmwood Technical HS
Spence claimed a pair of victories at the West Kittley Invitational in Abilene, Texas. She won the javelin throw with a personal-best mark of 132-3 (40.30m) and helped Angelo State’s 4x100 meter relay team (also Fatoumata Kabo, Zykia McDaniel and Shiean Walters) to the gold with a time of 46.75. Spence also finished sixth in the shot put.
