TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
 
MEN’S TRACK
Ja'Qualon Scott, Texas A&M-Kingsville, SO, Business Marketing, Houston, Texas, L.V. Hightower HS
Scott claimed a pair of gold medals in the hurdles at the Charles Austin Classic in San Marcos, Texas. Scott clocked a 13.87 in the 110 meter hurdles and 51.44 in the 400 meter hurdles. Scott, who owns the top NCAA Division II mark in the 110m hurdles (13.62), is now in the third spot in the 400m hurdles.
 
MEN’S FIELD
Thomas Nieto, Texas A&M-Kingsville, SO, Undecided, Ibaque, Columbia
Nieto once again set a new top mark in all of NCAA Division II in the pole vault as he cleared 17-6.5 (5.35m) to claim gold at the Charles Austin Classic in San Marcos, Texas. Nieto’s clearance on his third attempt ranks him 13th on the world leaderboard.
 
WOMEN’S TRACK
Corrssia Perry, West Texas A&M, SR, Graduate Student, Carrolton, Ga.
Perry placed second in the 200 meter dash with a NCAA Division II-best mark of 23.76 at the Masked Rider Open in Lubbock, Texas. Perry also ran the 100 meters, recording a mark of 11.80.
 
WOMEN’S FIELD
Brooke Urban, West Texas A&M, JR, Sports Exercise Science, Amarillo, Texas, AHS
Urban finished as the runner-up in the high jump with a mark of 5-7.25 (1.71m) at the Masked Rider open in Lubbock, Texas. Urban’s mark was tops in NCAA Division II and she finished behind only a NCAA Division I competitor.
