LSC Indoor Track and Field Weekly Release - Week 2

Lone Star Conference men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams got an early start to their new seasons on Dec. 8-9.

LSC athletes have recorded 73 NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks (30 men and 43 women). To see the conference’s men’s and women’s performance lists, click here.

The 2024 LSC Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held Feb. 23-24 at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla. West Texas A&M is the defending conference champion on the men’s and women’s side.

LSC INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
(Jan. 12-13 Meets)

MEN’S TRACK
James Dadzie, West Texas A&M, So., Kinesiology, Akim Oda, Eastern, Ghana
Dadzie ran the fastest 60-meter time in all of NCAA Division II this season with a 6.58 at the Stan Scott Memorial Meet in Lubbock, Texas. It was Dadzie’s debut for West Texas A&M. He finished fourth in the event, behind only NCAA Division I athletes.
 
MEN’S FIELD
Joseph Oreva, West Texas A&M, Sr., Fine Arts, Ughelli, Nigeria
Oreva won the long jump with a 24-7.75 (7.51m) at the Stan Scott Memorial Meet in Lubbock, Texas. In his first competition in 10 months for West Texas A&M, Oreva now owns the third longest mark in all of NCAA Division II this season.
 
WOMEN’S TRACK
Anna Salisbury, Lubbock Christian, Sr., Psychology/Family Studies, Leander (LHS)
Salisbury posted a NCAA Division II provisional mark of 56.34 in the 400-meters to finish in the top 5 of the Stan Scott Memorial Meet in Lubbock, Texas. The Lubbock Christian senior now has a top-10 time in all of Division II this season.

WOMEN’S FIELD
Kailee Benton, West Texas A&M, So., Sports and Exercise Science Pre Physical Therapy, Amarillo, Texas (Randall HS)
Benton posted a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a 18-7 (5.66m) at the Stan Scott Memorial Meet in Lubbock, Texas. The jump ranks the West Texas A&M sophomore in the top-25 in all of NCAA Division II this season.
