Forty student-athletes are cited as Players to Watch during the spring 2024 championship segment of the Lone Star Conference men's and women's tennis seasons, the Conference announced today.
The LSC Tennis Watch List athletes were nominated by their institution, 18 from the nine men's teams and 22 from the 11 women's teams. Included are individuals ranked nationally and regionally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) following play during the fall semester.

Men: UT Tyler lists #9 and Cameron #17 in the preseason ITA Division II national ranking released January 17. … Three LSC players start spring listed among the Top 25 singles players, led by #8 Martins Abamu, Lubbock Christian; #15 Luis Diaz Argente, Midwestern State; and #21 Vitaliy Horovoy, UT Permian Basin. Doubles partners Takumi Katsuda and Jonas Krahofer of UTPB rank #8 in Division II.
Women: The LSC has three teams among the Top 25 teams in the ITA Division II preseason national ranking (Jan. 17): #9 Cameron, #13 St. Mary's and #23 Angelo State. … The Top 25 singles rankings include #10 Alessa Maier from Texas A&M-Kingsville; #15 Selina Wu of St. Mary's and #22 Muskan Gupta from UT Tyler. DBU doubles team Isabell Rios and Sofia Teran start spring at #9 in Division II.

ITA Men's and Women's Rankings National, South Central Region
Conference teams face each of their LSC opponents in a single round-robin schedule format starting in mid-March and continuing through the month of April. The men's and women's team with the best winning percentage over the conference matches is the LSC champion.
The 2024 LSC Men's and Women's Tennis Tournaments will be played concurrently April 25-26-27 at the Arlington (Texas) Tennis Center. Winners of the two tournaments earn the LSC automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Tennis Championships. Regional play in the national tournaments May 10-11 for the women and May 13-14 for the men. National finals are scheduled May 20-25 in Altamonte Springs, Fla., as part of the spring NCAA Division II Championship Festival.
