Sul Ross State races past Eastern New Mexico, 33-28, for second league win: During the second week of the season, Sul Ross State suffered a tough non-conference loss to Eastern New Mexico. With the loss still in their minds, the Lobos came out Saturday and had a solid performance on both sides of the ball to pull off a 33-28 win over the Greyhounds at Jackson Field. It was SRSU’s first victory over ENMU since 1970. SRSU made waves on the opening kickoff as Yamil Oaxaca raced into the end zone on a 99-yard return. Trailing 28-17 after the third quarter, SRSU scored 16 points to secure the victory. Jordan Morales had a five-yard run, Carlos Arreola had a 47-yard field goal and Carson Workman had a 21-yard run. Morales finished with 122 rushing yards and two TDs on six carries. Quincy Blair made 17 tackles and Brendon Martin had 11 stops and an interception to lead the Lobos defense. Ron Craten ran for 178 yards and a TD on 22 carries for ENMU.

Angelo State extends winning streak to seven with dramatic 17-16 victory over No. 17 Central Washington: In dramatic fashion, Angelo State pulled out a 17-16 victory against No. 17-ranked Central Washington to remain undefeated conference play Saturday at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field. CWU scored with 34 seconds left in the game before missing the tying extra point, sealing the win for the Rams. With the win, ASU remains alone atop the LSC standings at 7-0. The Rams didn't waste any time scoring their first touchdown as Braeden Fuller hit Zeek Freeman on a seam for 75 yards on the first offense play of the game. The only score in the second half was Tyler Flanagan’s nine-yard run. The Wildcats lined up to go for the two-point conversion and win, but had a false start. That set up the extra-point attempt that went wide left. Fuller was 8 of 15 passing without an interception and also ran for 94 yards on 22 carries. Kenton Allen had 13 tackles and an INT and teammate Owen Seaver had eight stops and two sacks to lead the Rams on defense. Flanagan finished with 91 yards rushing and CWU quarterback Kennedy McGill threw for 136 yards and ran for 130 more and a score. Tyler King had 1.5 sacks for CWU.

Western Oregon keeps conference title destiny in own hands with 21-16 win at Midwestern State: Western Oregon slugged out a 21-16 win over Midwestern State on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls, Texas to keep its LSC title hopes in its own hands. The Wolves improved to 6-1 in conference play with two games remaining – one at home against 7-0 Angelo State next week. WOU built up a 21-6 with 8:22 in the third quarter before MSU tacked on two scores – a 66-yard fumble recovery by Larry Donnell and a 45-yard field goal by Joseph Carlson. WOU quarterback Jordan McCarty passed for two TDs and ran for 70 yards and another score. Andrew Simpson had two interceptions and two pass break-ups for the Wolves and Nijawn Sterling had 1.5 and their four sacks. Donnell finished with a game-high 12 tackles.

West Texas A&M leaves Texas A&M-Kingsville with 21-14 win: West Texas A&M came up with big defensive stops that led to 14 unanswered fourth quarter points on Saturday night to pick up a 21-14 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville, Texas. Kanon Gibson connected with TJ Moore on a 59-yard pass and Jamaal Joseph had a 1-yard run for the Buffs’ fourth-quarter scoring. Jamel Acosta-Lewis recovered a fumble recovery on a punt for WT’s first score in the third quarter. Neither team scored in the first quarter and TAMUK led 7-0 at halftime thanks to a Lawrence Starks five-yard run. JT Cavender had a game-high 11 tackles to lead the Buffs on defense. Jaylen Hackney had an interception for TAMUK. WT has now won three of its last four games after a four-game skid.
