The 2024-25 Lone Star Conference men’s basketball season is here. Five of the league’s 16 teams have played, and the rest will tip off this weekend.
 
Of the teams who played, No. 3-ranked West Texas A&M is the only unbeaten squad at 2-0. No. 5 DBU and St. Edward’s (receiving votes) are off to 2-1 starts.
 
WT’s Ahamed Mohammed and DBU’s Ricky Lujan already have 30-point games.

OFFENSIVE
Ahamed Mohammed, West Texas A&M, G, Jr., Sports and Exercise Science, Glendale, Ariz.
West Texas A&M junior guard Ahamed Mohammed averaged 24 points, 7.5 rebounds, three assists and two steals to help the No. 3-ranked Buffs to a 2-0 start to the season. Mohammed had 16 points against No. 25 Ferris State before a 32-point, 11-rebounds double double performance – both career highs – against UNC Pembroke, which is receiving votes in the Top 25 poll. Mohammed shot 48.4 percent from the field and hit three 3-pointers at the D2CCA Tip-Off Classic in Canyon, Texas.
 
DEFENSIVE
Duncan Alevok, Texas A&M International, C, Jr., Business, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Texas A&M International junior center Duncan Alevok had eight blocks in a single game – the most in the LSC since the 2016-17 season – to lead the Dustdevils to their first win of the season. Alevok also had six defensive rebounds in the win over Alaska-Anchorage at the Tip Off Classic in Billings, Mont. Over three games, Alevok had 14 defensive rebounds (17 total), averaged 8.7 points (a game-high 10 against Montana State Billings) and had one steal. He also added another block against Rogers State. Alevok and company held their opponents to a 66.3 scoring average.
