Last week’s Lone Star Conference men’s basketball schedule featured just seven games, with six being conference matchups. Of those games, Texas A&M-Kingsville upset No. 2-ranked and previously undefeated West Texas A&M 65-60 at Gil E. Steinke Physical Education Center in Kingsville, Texas. The Javelinas (6-4 overall, 2-2 in LSC) are now 4-0 at home.
 
UT Permian Basin is the first team to four conference wins. The Falcons are 4-1 in league play and 6-2 overall. WT, Lubbock Christian, Midwestern State and St. Mary’s are all 3-1 in conference play.
 
LCU has the top winning streak at four games followed by StMU with three.
 
This week’s schedule features 24 games, including eight conference matchups, spread across every day except Saturday (Dec. 21).
 
Eastern New Mexico is scoring a league-high 89.2 points per game and UT Tyler is allowing a league-low 62.8 points per game.
 
MSU’s Mason Gibson has two 30-point games (33 and 31), and WT’s Ahamed Mohammed (32) and DBU’s Ricky Lujan (30) have also hit that mark. UT Permian Basin’s Dario Domingos has the most rebounds in a game (16), while MSU’s Pierre Sanders and DBU’s Ricky Lujan each have 10-assist performances. More game-highs include: TAMIU’s Duncan Alevok (eight blocks) and ENMU’s Cooper Jackson (seven steals twice). LCU’s Ethan Duncan, UT Tyler’s Nikolas Gustavson and St. Edward’s Conor McManus have all made seven 3-pointers in a game.
 
Mohammed is averaging a league-high 19.8 points per game, followed by Gibson (19.5) and OC’s Keyondre Young (18.7). More league stat leaders include: CU’s Jaxon Ingram (10.6 rebounds pg), CU’s Reggie Prudhomme (5.7 assists pg) and ENMU’s Cooper Jackson (4.1 steals pg). Ingram, ENMU’s Jose Murillo and Sul Ross State’s Myles Amason are averaging 1.4 blocks per game. Murillo is shooting 75 percent (45-for-60) from the field and Young is shooting 51.8 (29-for-56) from 3-point range. Sanders has hit all 20 of his free-throw attempts.
 
The LSC Basketball Championship will March 6-9 at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. The top eight of the 16 men’s teams based on overall conference standings (22 games) will qualify. The men’s quarterfinals will be on March 7, followed by the semifinals on March 8 and the title game on March 9.

OFFENSIVE
Isaiah Payne, Texas A&M-Kingsville, G, Gr., Business, Ville Platte, La.
Texas A&M-Kingsville guard Isaiah Payne had 25 points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists to fuel an upset of No. 2-ranked West Texas A&M. The graduate student was 12 of 19 from the field in the 65-60 game that was the first loss of the season for the Buffs. Payne’s points and steals were game highs. He has now scored 20 points in four games this season.
 
DEFENSIVE
Dario Domingos, UT Permian Basin, C, Sr., Criminology/Criminal Justice, Midland, Texas
UT Permian Basin senior center Dario Domingos had 15 rebounds, five steals and two blocks to lead a pair of road victories over Oklahoma Christian and Cameron. Domingos also averaged 16.5 points on 60 percent shooting as the Falcons won for the sixth time in seven games. Domingos added an assist and committed just one turnover.
